Simply enter the keyword or phase you want to rank for, and Rank Math will create an actionable SEO checklist that you can follow. It will also suggest ways to improve your site’s overall SEO, and has tools that can fine-tune how your content looks when shared across Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms.

The best part is, there’s a lite version of Rank Math that you can download from WordPress.org, completely free.

This plugin comes with 18 schema types including article schema, event schema, and course schema. It also integrates with the Google Search Console and Google Analytics, so you can monitor your site’s performance directly in the WordPress dashboard.

I was pretty impressed by how much Rank Math includes in the free plugin. However, if you want access to the full schema library and more in-depth analytics, then you’ll need to upgrade to the premium Rank Math plugin.

Most WordPress blogs and websites get the majority of their traffic from the search engines. That’s why having a solid SEO plugin is absolutely crucial for climbing the search rankings, and making your content stand out from the crowd.

In this Rank Math review, I’ll look at its features, support, pricing and more, to help you decide whether it really is the best SEO plugin for you.

1. Easy to Set Up

It’s easy to get started with Rank Math. To begin, I installed and activated it just like any other WordPress plugin.

Upon activation, the setup wizard showed me how to configure my social profiles, webmaster profiles, and other SEO settings. It couldn’t be easier!

As part of the setup, Rank Math intelligently scanned my test WordPress site. The result? Personalized recommendations aimed at boosting my SEO. This feature is a significant time-saver, particularly for those just starting their SEO journey.

4. Integrates with Page and Post Editors

In my experience, it’s surprising how many SEO plugins don’t play nicely with the WordPress block editor. That’s why I was glad to see that Rank Math integrates seamlessly. This means you can fine-tune your content for SEO using the tools and user interface you’re already familiar with.

And guess what? Rank Math also supports Elementor! This is fantastic news if you like to build your website visually. You can fine-tune your landing pages, sales pages, and any other designs, right there in the Elementor editor. I tried this out with a few different page designs, and it felt really natural.

My Honest Review: The fact that Rank Math works so smoothly with both the WordPress block editor and Elementor is a huge win. I loved being able to optimize my content without ever having to leave the editor I was using.

5. Content Analysis Tools

We all know that if you want more visitors, you need to optimize your blog posts for SEO. So, no review of Rank Math would be complete without talking about its really useful content analysis tools.

To start, you can type in the focus keyword you want to target.

With that done, Rank Math will score your content out of 10. This instantly gives you an idea of how well your content is optimized for that keyword.

After that, Rank Math creates a straightforward checklist of things you can do. I found this checklist incredibly helpful when I was testing it out. It gives you specific steps you can take to boost your chances of ranking for the keyword or phrase you’re targeting.

Have you ever wondered how your blog post is going to look on search engine results pages (SERPs)? Rank Math can help you out, by displaying a live preview of your snippet, directly inside the WordPress block editor.

But that’s not all! You can also see how your post will look when you share it on social media platforms. This is super helpful for making sure your content looks good and grabs people’s attention on every site.

It can even add a watermark to your OpenGraph thumbnail. This is a brilliant way to protect your original images from being used without your permission. This is especially useful for artists, photographers, and anyone who creates their own digital art and graphics.

Beyond that, you can set a default OpenGraph thumbnail for every link that visitors share on social media. In this way, you can be confident that your posts will look great, even if you forget to upload a unique thumbnail.

My Honest Review: Rank Math’s snippet previews and social media features are seriously impressive. Being able to see exactly how your posts will look on search engines and social media right within WordPress is a huge time-saver. And the watermarking and default thumbnail options are fantastic for protecting your content.

7. Automated Image SEO

I know just how important image SEO is, and Rank Math makes it incredibly easy. It has a dedicated Image SEO module that automatically adds alt text, title attributes, captions, and descriptions to your images. I tested this feature on a site with a large image gallery, and it worked flawlessly.

After enabling this module, I could even fine-tune the image SEO settings, including using variables to control exactly how Rank Math generated the text for any missing captions, descriptions, and titles.

And get this – you can even tell Rank Math to replace the image information that’s already there. This can be a great way to deploy a consistent image SEO strategy across your entire website. I can see this being a huge help for big online stores with thousands of product pictures.

Schema markup gives the search engines important information about your pages and posts. This helps them index your site correctly and show it to people who are looking for content just like yours. For example, you can tell search engines that a page contains a recipe by adding the recipe schema.

Some search engines may even use this information to create rich snippets, which stand out from other results and often get more clicks. We use all kinds of schema markup at WPBeginner, and we’ve seen great results.

And guess what? Rank Math makes adding schema markup incredibly simple. With just a few clicks, you can add over 20 different types of schema to your content. This includes product schema, events schema, FAQ schema, and more.

What’s even cooler is that you can add multiple types of schema to a single post. This is a great way to give search engines a really complete picture of your content.

Going further, you can even create your own schema using their Custom Schema Builder. Once you’ve created a schema, you can save it as a template to use again later.

My Honest Review: Rank Math’s way of handling schema is seriously one of the best I’ve seen. The sheer number of schema types you can add, the ability to create your own custom schema, and the import and validation features make it a super powerful tool.

11. Bulk Editor Support

Sometimes, you may need to update multiple pages and posts at the same time, which can feel like a tedious task.

The good news is that Rank Math integrates seamlessly with the WordPress bulk editor. This means you can mark multiple pages and posts as noindex, index, or nofollow, remove canonical URLs, add redirections, remove redirects, set a schema type, and much more.

I put this feature to the test with a whole bunch of posts, and it seriously reduced the time it took me to make lots of changes at once.

Rank Math also adds extra settings to the Quick Edit section. This lets you quickly change important SEO stuff like the title, meta description, and focus keyword right from your list of posts.

My Honest Review: Being able to update multiple posts at the same time really speeds up your SEO work. I was particularly impressed with all the different options you can access within the bulk editor – it pretty much covers everything you need for on-page SEO.

12. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools

Do you ever get stuck trying to come up with blog post ideas or writing product descriptions?

Then you’ll be happy to learn that Rank Math comes with 40+ artificial intelligence tools that can help you generate blog post ideas, structure your content, create compelling product descriptions, and much more.

Rank Math’s AI tools can help you optimize all sorts of content for the search engines by suggesting the ideal tone, meta tags, open graph, and other crucial SEO elements.

If you’ve already got a bunch of content on your site, Rank Math’s AI can even create SEO titles and meta descriptions for you in bulk. This means you can quickly make your old content more SEO-friendly without having to go through each page one by one. I tried this out on a website with hundreds of posts, and it worked incredibly well.

In addition, Rank Math provides over 125 ready-made prompts that you can use to generate content ideas and improve your writing.

My Honest Review: Rank Math’s AI tools are a seriously powerful addition to an already awesome plugin. They can help you brainstorm ideas, optimize your writing, and even make bulk edits, which can really speed things up.

13. Integrated Google Tools

To win at SEO, you need to track how your changes affect your search engine rankings. You can then use this insight to do more of what’s working, and less of what isn’t.

To start, many smart website owners use Google Analytics to track their search engine performance. If you’re using this platform, then you’ll be happy to learn that Rank Math integrates seamlessly with Google Analytics 4. This integration lets you see important stats right there in your WordPress dashboard.

Rank Math also displays information from the Google Search Console. This means you can see what keywords you’re ranking for, your sitemap status, and any indexing issues without logging into an external tool.

Beyond that, Rank Math displays information from Google’s URL Inspection AI including your site’s overall presence on Google, the last crawl time, and your content’s index status.

This info can help you spot and fix any technical SEO issues that might be holding you back in the rankings. For example, if you’ve just published some new blog posts and you’re wondering why they’re not showing up on Google, then this feature lets you quickly check if Google has found and listed them yet.

Monitoring a ton of keywords manually takes a lot of time and effort. Trust me, I’ve spent way too many hours manually tracking keyword rankings in the past.

That’s where Rank Math’s Rank Tracker comes in – it does all that work for you automatically. I tested this out with a big list of keywords, and it worked perfectly.

16. Site Analytics and Reports

To improve your site’s SEO, it’s important to monitor what’s happening right now, and how your results change over time. You can then do more of what’s working, and less of what isn’t.

Rank Math’s Site Analytics dashboard gives you a really good overview of how your content is performing. I spent quite a bit of time exploring this dashboard, and I was impressed by just how much information it gives you.

You can see your overall SEO score, how much traffic each page is getting, and how that traffic changes over time. This makes it easy to spot trends quickly and make smart decisions based on real data.

Rank Math also displays your most popular blog posts and keywords according to search traffic, alongside your worst performing blog posts and keywords.

This allows you to identify what’s already delivering good results, and any weaker areas you need to focus on. For example, if you’re a business owner trying to figure out which posts are bringing in the most leads, then Rank Math makes it easy to spot your top-performing content.

Rank Math can also show detailed analytics for specific posts. I tried this out with a few different posts, and it gave me really valuable insights into things like keyword rankings, page loading speeds, and overall performance trends.

My Honest Review: Rank Math’s comprehensive overview, along with the detailed analytics for individual posts, gives you a ton of information to fine-tune your SEO strategy. I was particularly impressed with how easy it was to find my way around the dashboard and get to the data I needed.

17. XML Sitemaps

An XML sitemap helps search engines discover and index your content, by listing all your pages and posts in XML format. This may sound complicated, but Rank Math generates search engine compatible XML sitemaps for your website automatically.

In my experience, the default sitemap works well for all kinds of websites, blogs, and online stores, but you can easily customize it if you need to.

I had a look at these options when I was testing, and they were really easy to use. You can choose to include images in your sitemap, exclude certain posts or pages, and even change the way the sitemap is organized to fit your specific needs. I know our readers who manage more complex websites will really appreciate this level of control.

Do you want to submit your WordPress website to Google News? Then Rank Math can create a compliant news sitemap, which is a requirement for getting featured in Google News.

And if you regularly embed videos in your blog posts or pages, then Rank Math can automatically generate a video sitemap. This makes it easier for search engines to find and index your video content.

My Honest Review: Most of the time, Rank Math’s sitemap features just work – in my opinion, that’s the best kind of feature! However, there’s a ton of customization options available if you need them. It really does offer the best of both worlds.

18. Local SEO Support

Many business websites serve a specific town or region, such as a restaurant website.

For companies focusing on a specific area, local SEO is key. If that sounds like you, then you’ll be happy to know that Rank Math has everything you need to optimize your site for local search.

The Local SEO settings let you easily enter vital business details like opening hours, address, and industry niche. This information helps search engines understand your business and connect you with relevant local customers.

Rank Math also caters to businesses with multiple locations. I tested this with a pretend business that had several branches, and it was very straightforward to set up.

If your business has more than one location, then you can use Rank Math’s multi-location Local SEO option to optimize each one separately.

This makes sure all your branches appear in relevant local searches. For example, a fitness chain could use this feature to optimize each studio’s location and ensure they appear in local searches for ‘fitness studios in [city name]’.

With that done, Rank Math will add the necessary metadata for Google to recognize your site as a local business website. Your information will then start appearing in relevant local search results.

My Honest Review: Rank Math’s local SEO features are a real asset for businesses targeting local customers. I was particularly impressed with how well it supports businesses with multiple branches.

19. WooCommerce SEO

If you run an online store, Rank Math has a special WooCommerce SEO module just for you.

I tested this out with a practice store and found some really useful features for making my product pages and categories more search-engine friendly.

To start, this module can automatically remove prefixes like ‘product’ and ‘shop’ from your product URLs. It will also remove ‘/product-category/’ from your product categories. This results in cleaner URLs that are easier for shoppers and search engines to understand.

Rank Math can also remove schema markup on shop archive pages, and prevent schema data from being added to your product category pages. Both of these are best practices recommended by Google, so this can really help your store perform better in the search results.

Beyond that, Rank Math adds an SEO Meta Box to the WooCommerce product editor, so you can control exactly how each item appears in the SERPs.

20. Easy Digital Downloads Integration

Easy Digital Downloads is the best plugin for selling digital downloads. If you’re using this popular plugin, then you’ll be happy to learn that Rank Math integrates seamlessly with Easy Digital Downloads.

In particular, it comes with a ready-made EDD Product Schema and can automatically pull all the product data from your Easy Digital Downloads plugin. My Honest Review: Rank Math’s integration with Easy Digital Downloads is a real win for anyone selling digital products. I was seriously impressed by how easily it connected with my existing EDD setup.

21. Robot Meta Tags

Robot Meta tags tell the search engine bots how to crawl, index and display your content.

With Rank Math, you can set up global robot meta with ease, and then override those settings for individual pages, posts and custom post types. This lets you really fine-tune your SEO and control how search engines handle all your content.

My Honest Review: Rank Math’s way of handling Robot Meta tags is fantastic. You can set rules for your entire site, but you can also override these settings for individual pages. It’s the best of both worlds.

22. Optimize Author Profiles and Category Pages

You know how WordPress automatically creates those category and author archives? By default, they’re not really optimized for the search engines.

Rank Math fixes that by adding its handy SEO Meta Boxes to these pages. I tried this out with both category pages and author pages, and it worked perfectly.

This can really help them appear in relevant SERPs and bring more visitors to your site. For example, if you have lots of different writers, then you could use this feature to make each author’s page really stand out, showing off their expertise and attracting more readers to their articles.

23. Redirect Manager

A redirect automatically sends users to a new address when the page they’re trying to access has been moved, replaced or deleted. This is a far better experience than displaying a 404 error.

To help you set up these redirects, Rank Math comes with a handy Advanced Redirection Manager. This is a simple tool that allows you to create 301 redirects, 302, 307, 410, and 451 redirects, simply by entering the source URL and the new destination.

In addition, Rank Math can redirect attachments to the parent post, page, or custom post type that the file is attached to.

My Honest Review: The Advanced Redirection Manager is a very user-friendly way to manage redirects. I particularly like how it supports multiple different types of redirects and even comes with an attachment redirection feature – that’s a really nice added extra!

24. 404 Monitor

404 errors hurt the visitor experience and can also damage your WordPress SEO, so it’s important to find and fix them quickly. That said, Rank Math has a really useful 404 Monitor that helps you track and manage these errors on your website.

It can also track the 404 error page, the referring page, the time of the error, and the user agent, so you can learn all about the event at a glance. This detailed information helps you understand why the error happened, and spot any patterns or repeated problems with ease.

25. htaccess Editor

You know that .htaccess file on your web server? It’s pretty important for controlling how your website works, but editing it can be a bit intimidating because you usually need to use complicated tools like an FTP client or a file manager.

Well, Rank Math makes this much easier by letting you edit your .htaccess file directly in the WordPress dashboard!

And here’s a really smart thing: Rank Math automatically makes a backup of your .htaccess file before saving any changes, so you can easily restore it if something goes wrong.

26. Robots.txt Editor

Robots.txt is a text file that tells search engine bots how to crawl and index your site’s content. For example, you might ask these bots to ignore your WordPress admin pages, plugin files, and WordPress themes folder.

By controlling your crawl quota in this way, you can encourage the search engines to index your site’s most important content faster. Rank Math has a built-in tool that lets you manage this file right inside the WordPress admin area.

You don’t need any other programs – it’s all right there. This makes it much simpler to control which parts of your site search engines are allowed to see.

27. Breadcrumb Navigation

You know those little trails of links you sometimes see at the top of a website, like Home »  Category »  Sub-category »  Product? Those are breadcrumbs, and they’re actually really helpful for both search engines and your visitors.

Breadcrumb navigation helps Google understand how your website is organized. They also show visitors exactly where they are on your WordPress blog or website. In fact, you may have noticed that we use breadcrumbs across WPBeginner to help readers navigate our articles.

Some search engines may even include these breadcrumbs in their SERPs, so they can help your content stand out and get more clicks.

And guess what? Rank Math makes adding these breadcrumbs to your site super easy. I tried it out, and I had them up and running in just a few minutes.

28. Import / Export Settings

Do you run multiple websites, such as several related blogs in an affiliate marketing network?

This can be a real headache, especially when you’re trying to keep all your SEO settings the same. But Rank Math makes this much easier with its handy import/export feature.

You can basically export your Rank Math settings and redirects as an .htaccess file or an NGNIX config file. With that done, you can import those settings into any other site that has Rank Math installed.

In fact, you can choose to import these settings in the Rank Math setup wizard.

For example, you might use the import/export feature to create a template of your preferred Rank Math settings, ready to use across multiple sites.

29. Yoast and AIOSEO Importer

Switching your SEO plugin can feel like a big deal, right? But Rank Math makes it super easy with its built-in import tool.

In fact, you can import all your settings from Yoast and AIOSEO, with the click of a button. This saves you a ton of time and effort because you don’t have to go through and set everything up again manually.

I know a lot of our readers who are thinking about trying Rank Math will really appreciate this.

My Honest Review: If you’re thinking about migrating from an alternative SEO plugin, then Rank Math’s one-click import makes it a really attractive choice. I was really impressed with how accurately Rank Math brought over my settings from both Yoast and AIOSEO during testing.

Rank Math really puts user-friendliness first. The plugin’s main screen is well laid out and easy to get around, even if you’re just starting out with SEO.

With that in mind, this plan is perfect for very large agencies that manage high-traffic websites. You can simply install and activate Rank Math on all these client sites, and then manage them using exactly the same tools. The makes things much simpler and keeps everything consistent.
