Lead Generation is a method to generate consumer interest or inquiry into products or services of a business. In the blogging niche, leads are generated for a variety of purposes including but not limited to email list building, winning customers by offering them freebies, collecting information for a partner company and more. As WordPress is being used more and more by small businesses we thought we should do a series on how to do lead generation in WordPress.
In part 1 of our lead generation in WordPress series, we will look at how can you use the WordPress comment form to generate leads for your business or build a larger email list.
Collecting Emails from WordPress Comment Form
One of the ways you can do lead generation using the WordPress comment form is by adding an opt-in checkbox. Any user who checks the box to receive updates from you will be signed up to your email list. Example screenshot:
This method converts well because the user doesn’t have to fill out their email twice. A user would normally fill out their email to comment. If they choose to subscribe to your email list, then their emails will be pulled from your WordPress database.
While you may think this would require a lot of coding, it is actually very simple. You can do this with a free plugin called:
Subscribers Magnet is a paid plugin that can do this job as well. It integrates with Aweber and many other platforms.
Lead Generation by Redirecting Commentators
Another good way to do lead generation is by redirecting your commentator after their first comment. You can thank them for their comment and give them a special offer that they cannot resist. The opportunities here are limitless because you have a full page to add whatever you like. You can redirect your users by using a free plugin called Comment Redirect.
Once you install this plugin, you have the option to redirect your WordPress user to any page within your WordPress site. We recommend that you create a custom WordPress page template. If you do not have coding knowledge, you can use platforms like Premise, or Impact Page Builder to build beautiful landing pages.
Do you have any other tips or tricks that you have used in the past that has worked for you? If so please let us know. Also don’t forget to check back tomorrow. We will have another post waiting in this series.
