How We Test and Review WordPress Theme Marketplaces

To evaluate a WordPress theme marketplace, we go beyond their marketing claims. We install themes from their collections on our test sites to see how they perform for real-world projects, whether you’re starting a blog or building a full online store.

We focus on the essential features that determine a marketplace’s overall quality. Here are some of the key things we look for:

  • Page Builder Support: We test whether the themes on the marketplace integrate well with popular drag and drop page builder plugins. A page builder can let you fully customize your website design without writing or editing code.
  • SEO Optimization: We look for marketplaces that offer themes with built-in SEO optimization. This helps rank your website in the search engines, so you get more traffic and leads.
  • Responsive Design: We check that the marketplace themes are fully responsive. A responsive website looks great on all screen sizes and devices.
  • Speed and Performance: We evaluate the themes for fast performance. A quality marketplace will feature themes that are lightweight and won’t slow your website down, as this can hurt search rankings and drive visitors away.
  • Pricing and Value: We check what you get for your money. This includes looking at the cost, pricing models (like subscriptions or one-time fees), and what’s included, such as support and updates.

  1. Hi,

I’ve thought about building WP sites for local businesses. I’ve tried the Divi Builder, but it’s a pretty steep learning curve, and I’m used to building WP themes without a builder. Do you think that these premium themes would be adequate for anything I would need? And, is there a company that specializes in local business themes?

    Thanks,
    Larry C.
