Last year, one of our readers told us they were spending more time thinking about what to write than actually writing. Ideas weren’t the problem, but execution was.
Then they tried AI tools like ChatGPT. Within an hour, they had a month’s worth of blog titles, outlines, and tweet drafts ready to go.
We’ve had those moments at WPBeginner, too. We use AI tools like ChatGPT and Gemini to speed up brainstorming, writing, editing, and even headline testing.
At first, the results were hit or miss. Some responses were spot on — others completely missed the mark. That’s when we realized something important: AI is only as good as the prompt you give it.
In this article, we’re sharing the exact prompts we use to help bloggers, marketers, and social media creators work faster, think bigger, and get better results with AI.
And if you’re just getting started, don’t worry, we’ll show you how to write better prompts, too.

This article will cover a lot of topics, so you can click on any of the links below to jump to the section that best suits your needs:

What Is an AI Prompt?
An AI prompt is a question, command, or instruction you give to an AI like ChatGPT to start a conversation. It tells the AI what you want — whether that’s a blog title, a product description, or a tweet.
Think of it like giving a writing assistant clear directions. The more specific you are, the better the output will be.
To try it yourself, just sign up for ChatGPT. You’ll see a simple chat window where you can type in your prompt and get an instant response.

For example, try typing: “How old is the Universe?”.
Then, press Enter.

You’ll get a friendly, informative answer right away — often written in plain language.
You can see an example below.

But the real work occurs when you ask it to help with writing, planning, or editing content. For example, if you run a blog, then you can use ChatGPT to brainstorm post ideas, generate outlines, improve headlines, and more.
Tip: Here are 14 creative ways to use OpenAI on your WordPress website.
These prompts also work with other tools like Google’s Gemini (formerly Bard), so once you get the hang of it, you’ll be able to apply the same skills across multiple AI apps.
In the next section, we’ll show you how to write better prompts — so you can get faster, smarter results from ChatGPT and similar tools.
Note: ChatGPT and other AI tools are not meant to replace human judgment. Always review and edit the output to make sure the information is accurate, appropriate, and in your brand voice.
How to Write Effective AI Prompts (With a Simple Template)
Once you’ve played around with an AI like ChatGPT for a bit, you start to notice a pattern: vague prompts give you vague answers. But clear, detailed prompts? That’s where the magic happens.
Think of a prompt as a creative brief. The more context you provide, the more useful and relevant the output will be.
After testing dozens of formats, we settled on a simple prompt formula that consistently works for content creation, SEO, social media, and more.
A well-written prompt gives ChatGPT clear instructions, just like assigning a task to a team member. If you’re vague, the results will be too. But with the right format, you’ll get surprisingly good content — even on the first try.
Here’s the simple formula we use for most of our AI prompts:
- Role: Tell the AI who it should act as (e.g., “You are an SEO expert”). This helps the AI match the tone, expertise, and perspective you need for your task.
- Goal: Be clear about what you want (e.g., “Suggest five blog post ideas for…”).
- Context: Share background or input for the task. This could be a blog topic, a draft paragraph, or even your business goals. For example: “Write SEO titles for a blog post about email marketing tips for beginners.”
- Format: Say how you want the answer (e.g., “Give me a bulleted list with short explanations”).
- Tone/Style (Optional): Mention the voice you want (e.g., persuasive, casual, professional).
You don’t always need all five parts, but including at least three will usually give you better results.
Here’s a quick example of a weak prompt vs. a better one using this template:
❌ Weak: “Write blog post ideas about SEO”
✅ Better: “You are an experienced SEO content strategist. Suggest five blog post ideas about keyword research for beginners. Use a casual tone and include persuasive titles that are 60 characters or less.”
You can use this same structure to generate outlines, headlines, social media posts, video scripts, product descriptions, and more.
Now that you know how to write better prompts, here are our favorite examples you can copy and customize for your blog or business.

I have to admit that this is a great resource of prompts, especially when you are not good at prompt engineering.
Like you have just mentioned, I would also second that human review is still critical before publishing any AI-generated text.
Because sometimes (in some cases) it hallucinates and give out wrong information.
Overall though, prompts like these demonstrate the promise of AI to augment (not replace) human creativity!
Jiří Vaněk
Exactly. It’s a major drawback of using artificial intelligence. On one hand, it can provide very fast responses, but on the other hand, you have to verify all factual information to ensure it’s correct. So sometimes you don’t save time at all. That’s why, in my opinion, AI is still a very good tool for creativity but not for providing information that you can take as facts. However, large language models are evolving rapidly, and we’ll see where we are in two years. I completely agree with you about critical thinking.
Moinuddin Waheed
I think like all other skills, prompt engineering can also be learnt over time.
since it is new and has not been before, we should focus on the art of communicating effectively with ai solutions.
Earlier I used to struggle with making simple prompts and then over time refinement came.
I understood that getting the best results with chatgpt depends more on how well we have established the communication.
I totally agree with Mr. Dennis Muthomi about checking the content before using for our website. it is always good practice to check the authenticity and make improvements before final posting on the websites.
Mrteesurez
chatGTP is a powerful tool used by nearly all creators, bloggers and businesses to generate blog ideas, ads copy and more contents. All these are easily achieved with suitable prompts as chatGPT sometimes offers incorrect information and errors output but with using suitable prompts, errors and mistakes will be minimal and give out reasonable contents that are aligned with the prompts given. Thanks for giving us these prompts, they are really helpful.
Jiří Vaněk
ChatGPT has significantly helped me with my work over the past year, but sometimes I get stuck because it doesn’t understand what I’m asking for. So, being able to write a good prompt is simply fundamental for more effective overall work with AI. This is much more evident in image generation tools than in language models. Thanks for the tips.

This is an incredibly helpful article for bloggers, marketers, and social media users!
What I like about these ChatGPT prompts is that you have organized them into different topics, such as. SEO, content promotion, influencer marketing, etc. This makes it easy to find the perfect prompt for any situation. It’s also great that many of the examples can be reused (repurposed) in different contexts.
Overall, I find the article a great starting point for anyone looking to get the most out of their ChatGPT activities.
Thanks, WPBeginner!

Many thanks for this comprehensive and very useful post. I have some concerns though, not so much about the list but about ChatGPT itself.
When we ask ChatGPT to write something for us, it mostly does so by trawling other people’s work. It seems to me that using such material puts us at high risk of plagiarism, even if not by intent.
If ChatGPT always included citations in its responses that problem would be mitigated, but it doesn’t. In one response it created for me, I actually fired back a request for the source of its information and it cheerfully cited an academic paper. I happened to know that paper and it didn’t sound right to me. When I checked, I found that it was just plainly not a correct citation.
I asked some colleagues in the AI field about this and they told me it was commonplace for ChatGPT and its peers to “hallucinate”. What that means is that it is programmed to simply make stuff up so that it doesn’t leave apparent gaps in its “reasoning”.
It only takes a moment’s thought to realise that until this behaviour is fixed, the widespread use of these systems is quite dangerous. However, just as with social media, the platform creators have little incentive to fix it.
Your post was already very generous in length, but it may have been worth some caveats.

This is a fantastic resource. I’ve had little time to delve into this topic myself or even sign up. This post encapsulated things in a very informative and graspable manner! And…I added my name to the wait list. Thank you, Syed and helpers!

This is an amazing article. ChatGPT is revolutionizing the world. A lot of people are using ChatGPT prompts to help come up with creative ideas for their businesses or clients.
I’ve tried ChatGPT and it’s amazing yet still not perfect. It’s wise to use it as a tool and any generated work must be edited by an experienced human.
Honestly, I struggle to come up with good ChatGPT prompts but your article clears out a lot of confusion and doubt.
Thanks for sharing tons of value!

We don’t use it to write the content but it’s a great tool for creating outlines for articles like this one
