Au cours de l’année et demie écoulée, si vous tapiez le domaine wp.org, vous étiez redirigé vers WPBeginner. Ce fut une surprise inattendue et désagréable pour beaucoup, car vous vouliez vraiment visiter WordPress.org, la maison du populaire système de gestion de contenu. Veuillez noter que nous avons fait don du domaine à la WordPress Foundation.
Pour la majorité d’entre vous, cela ne signifie rien et la vie continue comme d’habitude. Pour ceux qui sont plus impliqués dans la communauté WordPress, c’est une énorme affaire parce que maintenant vous pouvez taper wp.org dans vos Tweets, messages Slack, statuts Facebook, etc sans maudire moi ou WPBeginner.
Je sais que cette redirection a été frustrante parce que beaucoup d’entre vous m’ont tweeté ou nous ont envoyé des e-mails en colère. À vous tous et même à ceux qui ont pris la bonne voie, je tiens à m’excuser pour mes actions.
Maintenant, vous vous demandez probablement ce qui a été modifié.
La réponse courte est BEAUCOUP de choses.
Ma femme et moi sommes enceintes de notre premier enfant. Cela m’a donné une nouvelle perspective sur la vie dans son ensemble.
Qu’il s’agisse de rédiger un nouveau testament ou de déplier ma couverture d’assurance vie, il se passe beaucoup de choses. Pour la première fois de ma vie, je pense à des circonstances imprévues. Certains d’entre vous, plus âgés et plus sages, appelleront cela “grandir”.
J’ai noté toutes les choses qui sont très importantes pour moi, et parmi les premières après ma famille, il y a WordPress. C’est ma famille élargie, et vous pouvez le constater si vous me rencontrez à l’un des WordCamps. J’utilise WordPress depuis 10 ans et WPBeginner existe depuis presque 7 ans.
En d’autres termes, WordPress fait partie de moi depuis 40% de ma vie.
Quand je pense à tout ce que WordPress a fait pour moi, le donateur/donatrice de wp.org à la Fondation WordPress est le moins que je puisse faire.
WordPress est bien plus grand qu’une seule personne ou qu’une seule organisation. C’est la raison pour laquelle la Fondation WordPress existe. Maintenant, si quelque chose devait m’arriver, je sais au moins que ce domaine ne sera pas vendu aux enchères au plus offrant (il sera plutôt en sécurité à la maison) avec la Fondation.
Mon seul regret est de ne pas l’avoir fait plus tôt. Mais je suis heureux de l’avoir fait maintenant.
La vie nous apprend chaque jour de nouvelles leçons, et je suis sûre que j’en apprendrai beaucoup avec le nouveau bébé.
Je tiens à remercier tous ceux qui m’ont supporté, et j’ai hâte de continuer à servir la communauté WordPress.

Congratulations on your baby, as well as the generous gift. I can’t imagine what a domain name like that would be worth~ so the thought of “donating it” in todays corporate world of greed is quite humbling.
I do know too that regardless of donating the name or not~ your WP Beginner site has helped me on a weekly basis for the past two years as I stumble my way around building my brand.

Kudos on the donation, Nothing wrong to me with a redirect on a domain you owned for a similar relevant site but I can see where some might view it as not wordpress and get angry. I was wondering why WP.org had Red in WebOfTrust browser tool with no reviews stating why it had a bad rating but this explains things. I followed you on fb and bookmarked your site so your donation gained me whatever that is worth. Regarding WebOfTrust, Any users that use it and read this should go rate the wp.org domain accurately so that visitors with the browser extension are not fooled into thinking wp.org is not trustworthy… I will! P.S. Also going to rate this domain and it already has a good score!
