Durante el último año y medio, si tecleabas el dominio wp.org, eras redirigido a WPBeginner. Esto fue una sorpresa inesperada y desagradable para muchos porque realmente querías visitar WordPress.org, inicio / página de inicio del popular sistema de gestión de contenidos. Hoy me complace anunciar que hemos donado el dominio a la Fundación WordPress.
Para la mayoría de vosotros, esto no significa nada y la vida sigue como siempre. Para aquellos que están más involucrados en la comunidad de WordPress, esto es un gran negocio porque ahora puedes escribir wp.org en tus Tweets, mensajes de Slack, estados de Facebook, etc sin maldecirme a mí o a WPBeginner.
Sé que esta redirección fue frustrante porque muchos de vosotros me tuiteasteis o nos enviasteis correos electrónicos enfadados. A todos ustedes e incluso a los que tomaron el camino correcto, quiero pedir disculpas por mis acciones.
Ahora probablemente os estéis preguntando qué ha cambiado.
La respuesta corta es MUCHO.
Mi mujer y yo estamos embarazados de nuestro primer hijo. Esto me ha dado una nueva perspectiva de la vida en su conjunto.
Desde redactar un nuevo testamento hasta ampliar la cobertura de mi seguro de vida, están pasando muchas cosas. Por primera vez en mi vida, pienso acerca de circunstancias imprevistas. Algunos de ustedes, que son mayores y mucho más sabios, lo llamarán “madurar”.
Escribí todas las cosas que son muy importantes para mí, y entre las primeras después de mi familia está WordPress. Es mi familia extendida, y puedes verlo si me conoces en cualquiera de los WordCamps. Llevo usando WordPress desde hace 10 años y WPBeginner existe desde hace casi 7 años.
En otras palabras, WordPress ha formado parte de mí durante el 40% de mi vida.
Al pensar en todo lo que WordPress ha hecho por mí, donar wp.org a la Fundación WordPress es lo menos que podía hacer.
WordPress es mucho más grande que una persona o una organización. Por eso existe la Fundación WordPress. Ahora, si me pasa algo, al menos sé que este dominio no se subastará al mejor postor (sino que estará seguro en casa) con la Fundación.
Solo lamento no haberlo hecho antes. Pero me alegro de haberlo hecho ahora.
La vida nos enseña nuevas lecciones cada día, y estoy segura de que aprenderé mucho con el nuevo bebé.
Quiero dar las gracias a todos los que me han compatible con / dar soporte, y espero seguir sirviendo a la comunidad de WordPress.

Congratulations on your baby, as well as the generous gift. I can’t imagine what a domain name like that would be worth~ so the thought of “donating it” in todays corporate world of greed is quite humbling.
I do know too that regardless of donating the name or not~ your WP Beginner site has helped me on a weekly basis for the past two years as I stumble my way around building my brand.

Kudos on the donation, Nothing wrong to me with a redirect on a domain you owned for a similar relevant site but I can see where some might view it as not wordpress and get angry. I was wondering why WP.org had Red in WebOfTrust browser tool with no reviews stating why it had a bad rating but this explains things. I followed you on fb and bookmarked your site so your donation gained me whatever that is worth. Regarding WebOfTrust, Any users that use it and read this should go rate the wp.org domain accurately so that visitors with the browser extension are not fooled into thinking wp.org is not trustworthy… I will! P.S. Also going to rate this domain and it already has a good score!
