After that, we used Pingdom’s website speed test tool to run our tests. These were the results we got:

    we have a GoGeek account since some months. I like the fast support at Siteground, but the real reason why I choose GoGeek was WP staging and I can tell you that it does not work at all with our WP installation.

    The interesting thing is that I hear no comments about staging, positive or negative in forums. Only articles and reviews telling theoretically how it should work; no real live reviews, testing on a live home page, with some complexity.

    We experienced nothing but severe Errors in real live ….

    Siteground shut down our server without any advance notice because they claimed we had exceeded our CPU quota for the month of February. They did this on February 28, the last day of the month, but more importantly they did this WITHOUT ANY ADVANCE NOTICE.

    Suddenly our website was completely off line. They then insisted that we upgrade to their “Dedicated Hosting” for $350 per month. This is extortion at its worst.

    I asked them if we were nearing our CPU quota, why couldn’t they have notified us a day or two in advance. They said “it is not always possible to notify in advance” so they decided to just shut off our server.

    Is this the kind of webhosting company you want to trust your website with?

    As a result, we had to pull engineers in on Saturday and do an emergency migration to Digital Ocean. To add insult to injury, SiteGround charged our credit card for the $350.

    SiteGround engineers are generally clueless and have no concept of uptime. Several times they changed our IP address without notice despite the fact that we had a “dedicated” IP service that we were paying for.

    STAY AWAY FROM SITEGROUND IF YOU DON’T WANT LOTS OF DOWNTIME!!!!

      Hello Jim, we were able to track down your correspondence with our support team. We are really sorry for the inconvenience caused, but please note that your account has been hosted on a shared server sharing resources with other accounts. While our shared servers are very powerful and manage to handle load spikes quite well, in this case the account started using much more than the allocated resources at once, increased the server load above an acceptable level and endangered the overall server performance. This has led to issues for all other sites hosted on the same server and we were forced to take measures to protect the other customers.
      On Feb 28th was the first time that the spike appeared and we informed you immediately. We provided detailed info of how much CPU your are allowed and how much you were using, that is why we suggested you consider moving to a more powerful solution available for your website only. You wanted us to start the migration for you and we immediately started it so that your site could be back up with minimal downtime. The reason we could not notify you in advance, is because your account’s usage has been normal in the terms of the shared server’s allocated resources until 27 February 2015. Our team has assisted you in the best way possible to bring your website quickly back up without harming the websites of other users on the server, and also made it possible to refund the amount for the unused time once you decided to cancel although the website was fully functional again.

    I had several good experiences with SiteGround and one really awful one. On New Year’s eve, they made an unannounced edit to one of my site’s htaccess files. The change actually took the site down, but they never checked to see if the edit had an effect.

    That’s a pretty egregious error and quite sloppy. On top of that, the tech who made the change wasn’t even apologetic.

    To me managed hosting means that the hosting company has your back. After that experience I felt I had to keep looking over my shoulder at them so I moved the site to another host.

    I am delighted with SiteGround. Because I am new to web hosting, I found choosing a service intimidating. After reading reviews, I settled on SiteGround and I’m super glad that I did. The quality of hosting and the pricing are great. The best aspect is the TECHNICAL SERVICE. SiteGround’s thoroughness and response time to my technical questions (I’ve had three since I started three months ago) has been phenomenal! I highly recommend SiteGround to anyone looking to create a blog. My experience setting up WordPress has been excellent, even with no background in this area.

    I’ve newly transferred to SiteGround, and have contacted the tech support twice for getting-started help.

    Both times, the support has been exceptional. Both times, LiveChat has been answered within 2 minutes or less, and the person has been friendly, knowledgeable and eager to help beyond just the first question.

    I’ve also had the sales team follow up to check that I’m ok and to see if I need help.

    I wish all support desks were as good as these people have been.

    Their tag is “Web Hosting Crafted with Care”. Are you guys kidding me. I just bought a years of your high end hosting service and when you did the transfer you did not point the MX records back to GoDaddy so I went 5 days without receiving any business emails. You knew I had any email with GoDaddy because 1. I gave you my email address that had my website name in it 2. you had all the login info to my GoDaddy account so you could do the transfer. So you knew my email would get cut off and didn’t even tell me (your customer). Even you tech support person told me your company does not have a policy to tell people their email is cut off – when you know about it.

    Your tag line should read “Web Hosting That Does Not Give a Damn About Our Customers”. That would be more accurate.

    I like siteground hosting, but their FTP service is terrible. If you are working on a site and uploading files, it can take 30-60 seconds to upload a small text file. I created a support ticket for this issue but got a reply that said their ftp is working fine. I know it’s not because I work on at least 4 other hosts (bluehost, hostgator, godaddy, viviotech) and have never had this issue. It’s a real pain if you’re building a demo site. As a result, I would not recommend siteground.

    I’ve had several issues with my website and they were more than helpful with my problems. Everything was fixed within minutes and they were the kind of problems that they shouldnt even bother to fix (at least I’ve been turned down by other companies like GoDaddy for such kind of problems). 5 stars all the way to these fellas!

    As Always, SiteGround goes beyond and above the call of duty to assist you even with something that you did wrong and when the problem is on your side and has nothing to do with hosting! I am more than glad I moved my site and my clients’ site to SiteGround after going through so many of them! Unlike others (don’t want to mention their name) SiteGround technicians don’t even tell you to contact your site developer when the problem is on your side! I have been developing websites since early 90’s and today, I was having a problem where my custom CSS file changes I made were not being reflected and asked the tech to recreate a blank one, according to my desired and required format, and she did not even say that this was not a hosting problem! Even though I have years of design experience, I made a small CSS Syntax BooBoo that was creating the problem and luckily noticed amount almost 500 line of code!

    Again, SiteGround is the Best hosting company and I am extremely glad the got into the hosting business because they not only offer the best hosting services and packages for your Joomla, WordPress, Magento, Drupal platform, they are very knowledgeable!

    Thank you SiteGround for stopping me from taken Aleve when I was with the other hosting companies!

    I have had to transfer my hosting to Siteground from a competitor and set up a WordPress website with 0 knowledge. Every time I have contacted the tech support team, they respond very quickly and explain things in very simple step-by-step instructions. Also very friendly.

    I had a problem with the way I was posting videos on my website and I spoke to technical team and he helped me so much! He fixed the problem and went step by step with me so I also understood how to do it.

    He was patient, funny and just brilliant! He answered all of my questions and explained things to me in the way I would understand.

    Very happy with the customer service!

    I also didnt have to wait long to talk to someone and that is always the case everytime I go on the webchat. Very happy with the all round support from Siteground! x

    I usually don’t know how good customer service is for a company until I am trying to leave it. They don’t make it hard for you. No strings attached.

    I wanted to cancel my account because I am going with something more lo-tech like Squarespace. I chatted with a rep about whether I can get a prorated refund for a three year renewal I am only one year in to. The rep told me that their policy have only a one month window, or something like that, to cancel with refund. That is frustrating but I might as well reinstate the account I just cancelled if I am already paying for it. I asked for just that. The rep was very helpful, did everything promptly. There was virtually no wait for a chat rep to become available, compared to other companies like 1&1 where no chat option is even available and the phone lines are always busy.

    The manner in which this company allows me to leave them makes it a company that I will come back to when I leave other companies out of frustration.

    Good value for money. I like the auto back up system every day.

    Brilliant – I’m quite impressed.

    Particularly as I’m new to web design. Found them helpful, patient and I really like how responsive they have been re: customer service. They are committed to providing great service and I was transferred directly to a manager re: an issue.

    I’ve been happy how it’s been resolved. Quick and efficient. What I need in modern day London!

Every time I need them (and that happens quit a lot due to my stupidity) the support operator is very helpful, provide me with correct answers and valuable suggestions. It is like taking a warm bath. Please, never change your policy. Thousand times thumbs up!

    I’m from Australia. Even though siteground is an overseas company, they have Asia-Pacific servers, and so the distance didn’t impact the speed of my sites at all. I found the Siteground support team to be just EXCELLENT. If I ever had an issue, or a question, or a request, I would not have to wait more than 1 minute to receive help. Siteground is A+ in terms of hosting and support!!!! Very happy and would highly recommend.
