Thank You for your Support – We Built the School (Pictures)

Earlier this year, we celebrated WPBeginner’s 4th birthday by doing a massive giveaway and raising the funds to build a school in Guatemala. That campaign was successful, and we raised a total of $25,150.

Last week, I got a notification from my contact at Pencils of Promise with the pictures of the school we helped build. Here’s the email snippet:

According to our Guatemala team, the community is not only one of our most remote, but also one of our most united. Throughout the school build process, the community members would come straight from working all day to welcome PoP and actively participate in community meetings.

Project Name: Vijolom II Preschool and Primary School
Pronunciation: Vee-ho-lome
Project Number: 118
Break Ground Date: 2/22/2013
Completion Date: 5/17/2013
Inauguration Date: 5/20/2013

Community Population: 761
Region: Quiche
Department: El Quiché
Municipality: Nebaj
Ethnicity: Ixil
Language: Ixil

Below are some pictures:

I will be visiting Guatemala next month to work closely with the PencilsofPromise team and get to know more about the community.

I am very thankful to you guys for all of your support. I just wanted to give you an update to show that a small group of people can really make a difference.

I’ll write about my visit to Guatemala on my personal blog.

Best Wishes,
