SiteGround Review From Our Experts

I’ve used SiteGround for more than a decade now, and it continues to impress me with its performance, reliability, and support. I’ve tested just about every major web host out there, but SiteGround still holds a top spot on my list.

We actually host WPBeginner and several of our partner sites on SiteGround’s cloud platform. This gives us a clear, behind-the-scenes look at how their servers perform under real traffic conditions.

If you’re looking for premium hosting that delivers fast speeds, strong security, and helpful customer service, then SiteGround is a solid option. Still, there are some trade-offs, especially when it comes to pricing and storage limits.

In this updated review, I’ll share my personal experience with SiteGround, including performance test results, support interactions, and screenshots of the tools you’ll be using. By the end, you’ll know whether SiteGround is a good fit for your website.

My Verdict on SiteGround

I’ve tested SiteGround many times and still recommend it as one of the best options for WordPress users who want fast speeds, great support, and reliable uptime.

It’s not the cheapest option, and you won’t get a free domain. But it stands out for its performance, Google Cloud infrastructure, and built-in tools like SG Optimizer that actually make a difference.

We also host WPBeginner and several of our partner sites on SiteGround, so I’ve seen firsthand how well it handles real traffic and day-to-day use.

⭐ Rating:5 out of 5
📈 Best For:Agencies, bloggers, and businesses who want performance and peace of mind
🔥 What Stands Out:Google Cloud platform, daily backups, built-in caching, top-tier support
💡 Pro Tip:The GrowBig plan gives you access to staging, ultrafast PHP, and on-demand backups

Keep reading to see exactly how I tested SiteGround and what I discovered during the process.

My Hosting Evaluation Criteria

Based on user feedback on WPBeginner and our own experiences, we have learned what matters the most when choosing a hosting provider.

When evaluating a hosting provider, I focus on the following areas.

  • Ease of Use: I tested their custom Site Tools dashboard and setup flow to see how beginner-friendly it is.
  • Speed and Reliability: I ran GTmetrix speed tests and monitored uptime and response times across multiple locations.
  • Stress Testing: Using K6, I simulated 50 concurrent users to see how SiteGround performs under load.
  • Support Experience: I chatted with SiteGround support and used their AI assistant to resolve common hosting questions.
  • Pricing and Plan Value: I reviewed features across all shared plans to see what you’re actually getting for your money.
How Did I Test SiteGround?

To give you an honest SiteGround review, I used the same process we follow for every hosting provider on WPBeginner.

Here’s exactly what I did:

Live WordPress Site Setup: I signed up for the GrowBig plan and installed WordPress using SiteGround’s 1-click setup. I added demo content, plugins, and media to simulate a real website.

Speed Testing with GTmetrix: I used GTmetrix to run multiple page speed tests from different locations to measure load time and Core Web Vitals.

Stress Testing with K6: I simulated 50 virtual users accessing the site at once to test how well SiteGround’s servers handle sudden traffic spikes.

Response Time Monitoring: I used PageSpeedPlus to test server response times from key regions, including the US, Europe, and Asia.

Uptime Monitoring: I enabled real-time uptime tracking to check for any downtime or slowdowns during the test period.

Support Interactions: I contacted support through live chat and tested their ChatGPT-powered assistant for helpfulness and accuracy.

This process gives a full picture of what you can expect from SiteGround as a real customer.

Why You Can Trust WPBeginner 🧡

Why You Can Trust WPBeginner

I’ve been reviewing WordPress hosts for over a decade and rely on real test data, not just specs or affiliate commissions.

We also use SiteGround to host WPBeginner and several of our partner websites, which means we have deep, first-hand experience with how it performs at scale.

You can read more about our testing standards and editorial process here.

Bottom line: SiteGround combines speed, uptime, and reliable support in one package. If you’re looking for premium hosting with a simple setup, it’s worth the price.

Let’s take a look at the full test results and how SiteGround compares to other hosts. Here is a list of areas I’ll cover in this review:

About SiteGround

SiteGround has been around since 2004 and has built a solid reputation in the hosting space. It’s now one of the most trusted hosting companies for WordPress users.

The company operates in several countries, including the United States, the UK, Spain, Bulgaria, and Cyprus. Its data centers are spread across three continents, making it easy to host your site close to your audience.

Today, SiteGround hosts more than 3 million domains and has a team of over 500 people. It’s a well-established company with deep experience in hosting and support.

SiteGround website

SiteGround Pros and Cons

SiteGround is a high-performing host that we’ve used on several of our own sites, including WPBeginner. But like any provider, it comes with trade-offs you should know about before you sign up.

Pros 👍
  • Excellent performance and speed, even under load
  • Google Cloud infrastructure and fast SSD storage
  • Daily backups and built-in caching with all plans
  • Custom Site Tools dashboard is fast and easy to use
  • The support team is knowledgeable and responsive
  • Free site migration with the WP Migrator plugin
Cons 👎
  • Higher renewal rates after the first term
  • No free domain with any hosting plan
  • Storage is limited compared to some competitors
  • Staging tools and premium features start with GrowBig

If you’re focused on performance, support, and peace of mind, SiteGround still offers a solid return on investment, especially for business and agency sites.

SiteGround Performance Tests

While price often plays a significant role when choosing a web host, you cannot compromise on performance.

This is why I decided to run my tests to thoroughly review SiteGround’s performance.

SiteGround Speed Test Results

I ran SiteGround’s performance tests using GTmetrix on a live WordPress demo site. The results were impressive right out of the box.

The fully loaded time was just 592 milliseconds. The Largest Contentful Paint came in at 497ms, and the First Contentful Paint happened in just 336ms. That’s blazing fast, even before enabling extra optimization tools.

These results put SiteGround in the top tier of shared hosting providers when it comes to raw speed. It’s quick enough for serious websites and small businesses alike.

SiteGround GTmetrix speed test score

SiteGround Stress Test Results

I used the K6 tool to simulate up to 50 visitors accessing the site at once to see how SiteGround’s servers would hold up under pressure.

During the stress test, SiteGround handled the traffic smoothly. Response times remained stable even as the number of virtual users increased. There were no timeouts or spikes, which means the hosting infrastructure is well-optimized for bursts of traffic.

This test confirms that SiteGround is a strong choice if your website needs to handle traffic surges, such as product launches or viral blog posts.

SiteGround Stress Test K6 Results

SiteGround Uptime Test Results

Uptime is where SiteGround really shines. I enabled continuous monitoring during the review period, and SiteGround delivered 100% uptime.

Most hosting companies promise 99.9% uptime, which allows for nearly 9 hours of downtime per year. SiteGround’s performance went above that, with zero outages recorded during testing.

If you run a site that can’t afford to go offline, like a business site or online store, SiteGround is a dependable choice.

SiteGround uptime test result

SiteGround Response Time Test Results

I used PageSpeedPlus to test server response times from six different regions to measure global performance. SiteGround showed consistently strong performance across the board.

In Oregon, the site fully loaded in just 1 second with a render time of 46ms. Even distant regions like Tokyo and Canada Central stayed within acceptable performance limits, though naturally a bit slower due to distance from the origin server.

This confirms that SiteGround’s global infrastructure, including data centers on four continents, can deliver fast speeds no matter where your visitors come from.

SiteGround Hosting Plans and Features

SiteGround doesn’t just offer one-size-fits-all hosting. Whether you’re launching a blog, managing client sites, or growing an eCommerce store, there’s a plan that fits. I’ve tested all three shared plans and even hosted some of my client projects on their cloud servers — the difference in performance and control is noticeable.

All plans include free SSL, email hosting, daily backups, a custom control panel, staging tools, and a built-in caching system. Even the entry-level plan offers more than most basic shared hosts.

Here’s a quick overview of what SiteGround offers:

  • Shared Hosting: Ideal for beginners, bloggers, or anyone launching a small site. Includes everything needed to run a WordPress website.
  • Managed WordPress Hosting: Built on the same shared infrastructure but optimized specifically for WordPress performance and security.
  • WooCommerce Hosting: Aimed at online stores, with extra tools and caching settings tailored for WooCommerce.
  • Cloud Hosting: For growing businesses and high-traffic sites. More scalable and customizable than shared plans, with dedicated resources and flexible upgrades.

At WPBeginner, we use SiteGround’s enterprise infrastructure to host several of our partner sites. It gives us the speed and reliability we need at scale, with a technical team that’s been rock-solid whenever we needed help. Read our case study explaining why we switched to SiteGround.

SiteGround Shared Hosting Plans (Detailed Breakdown)

If you’re starting a new site or blog, SiteGround’s shared hosting is where I’d begin. All three tiers offer solid value, but the differences matter depending on how many sites you run and whether you need staging or priority support.

  • Startup Plan: Best for beginners or single-site users. You get 10 GB SSD storage, free SSL, CDN, email, backups, and all essential features. It supports around 10,000 monthly visits.
  • GrowBig Plan: This is the plan I recommend most. It supports unlimited sites, includes 20 GB storage, and unlocks key features like staging, on-demand backups, and SiteGround’s Ultrafast PHP. Good for sites up to 100,000 visits per month.
  • GoGeek Plan: Designed for developers or businesses managing multiple client sites. Includes 40 GB storage, white-label tools, Git integration, more server resources, and priority support. It can handle up to 400,000 monthly visits.

No matter which plan you choose, SiteGround makes it easy to scale up later. You’re never locked in, and everything’s built with WordPress in mind.

SiteGround pricing

SiteGround Pricing (What You Get for the Money)

SiteGround is often seen as a premium host, and for good reason. It’s not the cheapest option, but it packs in more tools, support, and speed features than most shared hosts. I’ve personally paid for GrowBig and GoGeek plans in different client projects, and they’ve always delivered consistent value.

They frequently run introductory deals, so you can start as low as $2.99/month. But keep in mind: renewal prices jump significantly after the first term. If you want the best value, go for a longer term upfront.

Each plan includes free SSL, a custom control panel (Site Tools), unlimited bandwidth, and helpful WordPress plugins like SG Optimizer. You also get access to their new email marketing tool, which is surprisingly decent for basic campaigns.

How Good Is SiteGround Support?

SiteGround has always had a reputation for responsive and helpful support. I’ve personally reached out to them multiple times while managing client sites and my own test environments. In nearly every case, I was connected to someone knowledgeable within minutes.

They offer 24/7 live chat, ticket support, and phone support. You’ll also find a robust knowledge base and an AI-powered support assistant inside your Site Tools dashboard. The chatbot is trained on real customer questions and can resolve many issues without human involvement.

SiteGround AI support assistant

One of my favorite things is how deeply integrated the support options are. If you’re inside the Site Tools dashboard, you can launch help without ever opening a new tab. It makes troubleshooting a lot faster.

They also publish hundreds of well-organized tutorials and video walkthroughs, which is ideal if you like solving things on your own. We’ve used their documentation often when training writers and new team members working on WordPress setups.

SiteGround support website

Overall, SiteGround support is reliable and fast. But if you’re used to support via email, note that email-based help is not offered; you’ll need to go through chat or ticketing. Still, for most users, that’s not a dealbreaker.

SiteGround Technology Stack

SiteGround isn’t just another hosting company riding on marketing. They’ve built a high-performance platform that blends Google Cloud infrastructure with a set of in-house technologies designed for serious speed and reliability.

We’ve hosted WPBeginner and several partner sites on SiteGround and consistently benefited from their fast stack, caching layers, and resource efficiency. Here’s a breakdown of what powers it all behind the scenes.

  • Google Cloud Infrastructure: SiteGround runs on the Google Cloud network with distributed SSD storage. This ensures fast connections, excellent redundancy, and top-tier availability.
  • Ultrafast PHP: Their custom ultrafast PHP implementation reduces the time to first byte and improves memory efficiency. It’s one of the reasons our test sites loaded 30% faster compared to standard PHP setups.
  • Custom MySQL Configuration: Their setup handles large volumes of parallel queries and minimizes slowdowns from complex database requests. That’s critical for high-traffic WordPress sites.
  • SuperCacher: SiteGround’s three-layer caching system includes static cache, dynamic cache, and Memcached. Dynamic caching is turned on by default, and it made a noticeable difference during our stress testing.
  • Blazing Fast CDN: Their in-house CDN is easy to set up, and it caches content on multiple edge servers to serve users from the nearest location. That helps reduce load times globally.
  • Brotli Compression: Brotli, developed by Google, produces smaller file sizes than gzip. It’s already deployed across all SiteGround servers and helped reduce page weight in our GTmetrix tests.
  • Quick Tech Adoption: SiteGround regularly rolls out support for the latest stable versions of PHP and HTTP protocols and was among the first to deploy TLS 1.3 and OCSP stapling.
  • SG Optimizer Plugin: For WordPress users, SiteGround provides a powerful performance plugin that gives you fine-grained control over caching, image optimization, lazy loading, and more.
SiteGround technology stack diagram

When you combine all of these, it’s clear SiteGround isn’t relying on just one feature to stay competitive. They’ve built a lean, scalable tech stack that works well whether you’re hosting a basic blog or a busy WooCommerce site.

SiteGround Security Features

I’ve always appreciated how seriously SiteGround takes security. They don’t just offer the basics — they’ve built a multi-layered system that protects both their servers and your individual site.

Every SiteGround plan comes with free SSL, daily backups, and a web application firewall. But what makes them stand out is how proactive they are with emerging threats.

  • Real-time server monitoring: Their systems scan for problems every 0.5 seconds, which helps them catch issues before they escalate.
  • In-house firewall rules: Their team adds hundreds of new rules each year to defend against the latest WordPress-specific vulnerabilities.
  • AI anti-bot protection: Their AI blocks millions of brute-force attempts, spam bots, and other threats before they reach your site.
  • SiteGround Security plugin: This free WordPress plugin adds login protection, malware scanning, and advanced security settings for non-tech users.
  • Native CDN with DDoS protection: When you enable their CDN, your content is distributed globally, masking your server’s origin IP and filtering out suspicious traffic.
  • Daily off-site backups: Your website is backed up every 24 hours, and those backups are stored across multiple data centers for extra safety.
  • Monthly security reports: SiteGround sends a detailed breakdown of your site’s security score with actionable recommendations for improving weak areas.
SiteGround security features

There is one downside worth mentioning. SiteGround charges for domain privacy. It’s $12 for the first year and $24/year after that.

Overall, SiteGround offers one of the most complete security packages in the shared hosting space without requiring you to configure everything manually.

Conclusion: Is SiteGround the Right Choice for You?

After reading my detailed SiteGround review, you might be wondering if SiteGround is the best web hosting company for your website.

If you want a fast and reliable web hosting provider with excellent customer support, SiteGround is perfect for you. They have hosting plans for every budget, and each plan offers a great set of features.

All their shared hosting plans include SSD storage, site tools, easy setup of Let’s Encrypt free SSL and Cloudflare CDN service, 1-click WordPress installer, and free migration.

Built-in security features protect your website against malware, and you can add additional protection by turning on Cloudflare CDN functionality.

Frequently Asked Questions About SiteGround Hosting

In this detailed SiteGround review, we looked at all aspects of their hosting services. The following are some of the most frequently asked questions about SiteGround by our users.

1. Where are SiteGround servers located?

SiteGround servers are located in the United States, Europe, and Singapore. You can choose the server location when signing up.

2. Why choose SiteGround for WordPress hosting?

SiteGround offers a highly optimized WordPress hosting platform. Each plan includes its own in-house security features and WordPress tweaks that boost your WordPress site speed and performance.

You can easily set up a WordPress website with their 1-click WordPress installation. You can also move existing WordPress websites using the SiteGround Migrator plugin.

3. Does SiteGround support WooCommerce?

SiteGround specializes in WordPress and WooCommerce hosting. If you are building a WooCommerce store, then you can rely on SiteGround’s optimizations for consistent performance and reliability.

They are one of the top WooCommerce hosting providers and make it super easy to start an online store without any special technical skills.

4. Does SiteGround offer a website builder?

No, SiteGround does not offer its own site builder. That’s because they want users to have the option to pick the best website builder for their needs.

This is why they allow you to easily install WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, Magento, Weebly, and many other site builder platforms.

On the SiteGround platform, you can also create unlimited web pages without any restrictions.

5. Does SiteGround offer cPanel hosting?

No, SiteGround no longer offers cPanel hosting. Once cPanel raised its licensing fees, SiteGround decided to remove cPanel hosting and instead built a far superior web hosting control panel for both beginners and advanced users. This allows them to offer managed WordPress hosting-like features without the high costs.

6. Is SiteGround better than Bluehost?

SiteGround and Bluehost used to offer the same features, but with recent innovations, SiteGround has significantly improved its hosting technology.

SiteGround is better than Bluehost in terms of overall performance, technology infrastructure, and support quality. However, with all this innovation, SiteGround pricing is significantly higher.

7. How does SiteGround compare with other hosting providers?

Readers often ask us how SiteGround compares with GoDaddy, Hostinger, HostGator, GreenGeeks, DreamHost, A2 Hosting, and other web hosting services.

They all used to provide similar features and technology, but over the last year, SiteGround has really stepped up its innovation.

With all the managed WordPress hosting features, Google Cloud infrastructure, and custom performance optimization, SiteGround is now in a class of its own with its premium hosting.

8. Does SiteGround offer a free domain name?

No, SiteGround does not offer a free domain name. You can buy a domain name from another registrar and point it to your SiteGround account or buy one from SiteGround during signup at an additional cost.

10. Which SiteGround plan is best for me?

Each SiteGround plan has different server resources. However, if you are just starting out, then their Startup plan would be perfect for that. You can upgrade at any time if you need more resources. Choose your SiteGround plan to get started.

  1. Wow – I am truly impressed. So far I had two technical support questions that I got answered in a chat and both of them went great: No waiting time, to the point answer and very friendly and patient experts on the chat. I would chose siteground again at any time and highly recommend it!

  2. Siteground provides an absolutely brilliant service at a good price. Their online customer service is brilliant, they transferred my site from another host for free and they recently solved a problem with my site very quickly.

    Totally recommended.

  3. Outstanding service! I’m very happy to have chosen siteground as my hosting provider. I highly recommed them to anyone looking for a quality service with top notch customer support.
    Keep up the good work!

  4. Just spent another 1 1/2 hours with a siteground customer support who sorted out my issues with no problems. Extreme patience and cannot recommend them enough.

  5. Very nice hosting services – but the support team, however, is simply outstanding.
Always available, super helpful and accommodating – first time in years I have experienced professional service like this.

    Totally recommended ^_^

  6. I’ve been impressed at the level of support and the speed with which they setup my WP site. So far everything has been very smooth.

  7. So far so GREAT! to be a new SiteGround customer . I was expecting great service and the have delivered it.

  8. Just had a 13 minute Live Chat. I’ve been having similar chats, and written to email support, with many other web hosts over the last week, so I’m in a good place to compare. This one today, corrected a mis-conception I’d had about PCI compliancy …… none of the agents from other web hosts realized that I was coming from the wrong direction, so to speak.

So I’ll be signing up with SightGround !

  9. Outstanding customer and technical support services! Both services are fast and competent. SiteGround is a great investment.

  10. They are helpful but lacking of technical knowledge.
Besides, they have silly limitations (for example they did not install the latest PHP imagick version despite of our insists! WTF?)

    • Hello Onur, we’re sorry you feel this way about our technical team. Unfortunately we are not able to locate your account based on the provided information and investigate further. What we can say about the latest PHP imagick version that you’re inquiring about is that there is tech time needed to build and test such new versions to make sure they are compatible and run smoothly on our servers. As you surely know, we offer highly customized solutions to our customers for better speed and top security. Once we are confident that the PHP versions works OK, we will certainly make it available to our customers (together with all the other versions we currently support: PHP 5.5, Php 5.4, PHP 5.3, PHP 4.4.9, PHP 5.0.5, PHP 5.1.6, PHP 5.2.17, PHP 5.2.17 with Suhosin patch) and will announce it officially.

  11. After the initial teething problem of setting up WP hosting for the first time with a more advanced theme, I went nearly 3 months without ever contacting Siteground support. This is a great thing! It means that things works the way it should.

During the setup phase, Support Team did a nice job of helping me through…even on lighter coding questions on WP that sometimes originated from the theme itself.

I went through 2 weeks of search before settling on Siteground. I thought it has the best balance of cost/support/reliability/performance. Nearly 6 months later, I’m still happy with my decision. More so when you read about bad reviews of other similar services.

Support Team at Siteground is definitely one of the best. I normally go through webchat as opposed to calling so I can’t comment on the latter (in term of wait time). In all, if your budget is under $20 USD per month for WP hosting, I can’t imagine better provider.

Siteground, please keep up the good work as you continue to grow.

  12. I was doing some basic cleanup and made things simpler with the tech assistance. Appreciate the patience and thoughtfulness.

    Thanks!

  13. Best support site. The technical people are very friendly and very fast to support in solving your bugs. I would recommend this company.

  14. Site ground is the best ISP provider service I’ve had so far. I’ve just transferred my hosting from another country to them and I hope the services remain as they are. They just have to reduce the costs a little bit even though, most of the times, it’s worth it.

  15. You suport guys and gals are A M A Z I N G… so helpful with any minor or major issues (mostly caused by myself I should add!) and answered incredibly fast every single time day or night.

Very happy too with the overall speed of servers/caching etc – I have been recommending Siteground to clients so will see how many I can get across soon!

    Thanks again

  16. Best support and service I used. Tickets reply very fast and problem solving excellent.
    Thanks to this professional hosting

  17. Siteground support has always been prompt and helpful when I have had problems or even questions – 24/7. I’ve used many other hosting providers and now recommend this one to most people who ask

  18. Siteground’s customer service is SUGAR. l think l’m really planning to adopt this in my company as soon as possible; Steve, (Nigeria).

  19. Georgi was incredible. He helped me through some troubles with my site. He kept in touch answering several questions promptly. He also provided me with information that helped me finally resolve the problem with the site. This is just one instance among many that SiteGround’s technical support hasn’t changed a bit. It is off the chain. I just wish they had a 6 star rating!

    Thanks again everyone.

  20. As a Dutch speaking person I can only recommend this very powerfull hosting service. It provides the best technical support via live chat, e-mail and even by a local telephone number. Unavoidable misunderstandings due to the differences is language should not affect your dicision to join Siteground. Somehow the staff is always understanding the critical part of your question and fastly respond with an useful and right answer. For this reason, it is (to my knowledge) the best and largest alternative in Europe if you require excellent hosting from real professionals. Thanks!

  21. Siteground’s customer service does not have an equal. Very patient and knowledgeable. Always there when I need them most. Been a Siteground customer for years and never have an issue with their services or pricing. Highly recommend them to anyone with hosting needs.

  22. I started using SiteGround almost 1 year ago and I’m so happy with it’s Customer Service that it’s a pleasure to give them a complete positive review!

I’m a web trainer and web designer but I’ve not a “server guru” in my staff …so I’m with SG because I know I can completely count on the HelpDesk guys for any problem I do have!

Thanks to you all for you kindness, patience ad expertise

    Nadia

  23. By far, the best customer service I have ever had, hands down. Not only were they extremely knowledgeable, but very quick to respond! I had a pretty technical question, that required specific expertise and I had the problem resolved within 15 minutes (which included live chat and messaging)! I’m very impressed.

  24. Just has an instance where my six monthly billing cycle no longer had an option for my cloud services. Quick chat with support and they had a link available for me and finished it while they waited to ensure everything went smooth, another example of the great support I always receive from Siteground support Staff!

  25. I’m very happy with siteground. I have been with siteground for almost two years and every time i need assistance they are there. I am very happy with the service!

  26. I had a major problem with my e-mail so I was unable to get my log in information. Through chat I was able to get the answers and help I needed right away. Five Stars all the way thank you so much.

  27. Siteground is a great hosting service for wordpress and prestashop. I’m using it for the past two years. Excellent support service. Always solved all my little problems in few minutes. I always switch all my clients to this provider even if I’m italian and the support is only in english.

    I definitely recommend it. :)

  28. 1 Star – extremely disappointing and very expensive experience with Siteground.

I switched after a really bad experience with Westhost (too many issues to note).

I started with a GoGeek Account. I am using Vanilla Wordpress sites with enfold theme, and no additional plugins besides wordfence, All in One SEO.

After 2 weeks, they told me I was using too many CPU executions. I was away and they just shut the account off. They did warn me the day before via email/support ticket, but again I was away and the email went to spam. I started getting phone calls from a couple clients, and visitors that my web account was Suspended. Awesome.

Then I started a separate account, and that still was not enough. Too many CPU executions. maybe a dozen sites with 10k in traffic per month total.

You have to run wordfence because if they find a suspicious file, your whole account immediately gets disabled. Once I was disabled because they found a file in the Wordfence quarantine folder. It took 3 hours on a Sunday missing my family to get them to turn it back on. I had to change passwords, etc what an annyoing drill.

Sales told me I should go to Cloud Hosting because I used too many resources. Mind you, I had a larger account than on westhost.

The cloud hosting was SUPER FAST. I mean 100-200 milliseconds fast.

After 1 week of cloud hosting, it started going down. Usually on a Sunday morning at 3am. It would go unnoticed by siteground until I called. Several times it went down for hours and hours and it was to the point I had 94% uptime. I was hosting a few other clients and they were extremely unhappy.

Email was disappointment as well. Dropped emails, service down, etc.

Support was always happy and accommodating, but the Techs would blame literally 6-8 hours of downtime on “server issues”, the “varnish cache failing”, and then finally they told me I was using too many resources again. a dozen active sites on a Cloud Host?

So I decided to move everyone to bluehost. I bought 8 Business Pro accounts, and after 1 month I have 100% uptime. I really like my sales guy, and they are “pretty good”.

I am spending $300/year more, but my kids have their dad back on Sundays and clients are happy.

I though I could make money with a vps and hosting clients, but it did not work out for me… Just not worth the time.

    • Hello Dale, we are sorry to hear you feel this way. We were able to locate your correspondence with the support team and investigate the case in detail. When you signed up with SiteGround initially you were on a shared hosting plan. As you know, that means you share the server resources with other clients, so naturally when our system detected that you were using too many resources and endangered the performance of the other websites on the server, it sent alerts immediately to you. Suggesting an upgrade was the most reasonable thing to do – it would have ensured you more resources and better performance for your websites. From our records we can see that you have upgraded from our biggest shared hosting account to our entry-level cloud server and the issues came back once you started exceeding the memory (and resources) allocated. In several tickets and chats our Customer Care team consulted you about the issue and how to resolve it, but despite the advice (upgrade, auto-scalling etc.) they gave, you decided not to invest in a bigger server and switched hosts. We are glad to hear that you were able to find a new host to host your websites without resource issues, but please note that, as you’ve stated yourself, you are currently using 8 different account instead of a single one as you did with us.

  29. I have only recently started hosting with siteground and must say that I am VERY happy with the services. The staff are accessible, accommodating and beyond helpful! I have worked on websites for many, many years and I have never found a hosting company that provides 24/7 prompt and helpful service like this! Very impressed!

  30. Best customer service i have ever received online and possibly in LIFE! no exaggeration. A great company with great values. Always try there best to resolve issues sufficient and swift. Happy to be hosting with siteground.

  31. I’ve been using SiteGround for a few months now and I honestly won’t go back to using any other company. They are so fast and so helpful. Such a refreshing change!

  32. You guys are always so helpful! You don’t give up until I’m satisfied with the issue. I thank you kindly for your help.

  33. I’m with Siteground for almost 6 months and I need to say that they are great! Very fast, knowledgeable customer support. I will be moving two more pages to their hosting server soon.

  34. Siteground support team has never make me wait the answer to long. Their reply and solve the problem as soon as possible. Best support n best services they provide. It is a worthy to host the site @ siteground.

    Thank you.

  35. Great customer support team!
I thought I’d wait for an elusive answer but NO.
I received it minutes after I posted and RIGHT ON.

    Many thanks

  36. I’ve been with Siteground since HostGator decided customer service was not their priority. Siteground is well versed in Joomla and that’s what I use for all my websites and have considerable experience though still need help once in a while. Every question I ask they respond quickly and within their ability to help me (sometimes above!). They have not failed to be better than I hoped. The price is right and they are great to work with.

  37. Siteground is Awesome. They are so helpful and try their best. They are very supportive with SE PHP. Unique feature is that their shared hosting supports memcache and optimization unlike most other hosting. Recently I had issue with memcache stability. Here was their solution:
“Furthermore, I have read your ticket history and as far as I understood the issue that you are experiencing is with the memcached server. I have noticed that once the memcached cache is flushed, the issue is resolved. This is why I have suggested to upgrade to a cloud server, where we could set a cron job to flush the cache frequently.

Still, I have searched on the Internet for similar issues and I have found a work-around in this case. I have set a cron job for your account that will run every hour on the hour and will open a telnet connection on the memcached port to flush the cache.

You could change the frequency at which the cron job will be executed through cPanel –> Cron Jobs. Keep in mind that according to our Terms of Use, a cron job could not be executed more than once for a period of thirty minutes on our shared servers.”

You won’t get awesome service like this with other shared host providers.

Keep up the great work Siteground!

  38. Don’t know what to say then 10/10 – Changed from my old host to Siteground and i dont regret a single secound they’re fast reliable and always there when help is needed.

  39. I cannot overstate how many times Siteground tech support has pulled my butt out of the fire, across a variety of technical topics and issues over the last 5-8 years across many domains and installations. 1) Quick response 2) Problems always solved 3) High professionalism and courtesy.

I continue to point people and clients needing a host to Siteground. And now I’m transferring my various domains registrations to Siteground away from Network Solutions, having discovered how convenient and affordable managing those domains are from the SG interface.

    Bravo.

  40. It was recommended to me by a friend. They rock so far, I hope they keep this great Technical support…

  41. We are coming to the end of our six month test of SiteGround’s VPS Cloud service.
The positive reviews for Siteground primarily come from the shared hosting packages that they offer.
However, we have mixed feelings about the company and their services.
We just upgraded to the new Enterprise Cloud hosting (migration cost of 140USD), and noticed a bump in performance in the backend admin of our WPMU. The move did not help with pageload times, nor did we see an improvement in throughput, our main concern.
The biggest gripe I have about SiteGround services is the lack of resources they apply to their VPS product, especially in relation to bandwidth. This is not to be confused with pageload times.
This page, as an example, has a pageload speed of 4.53 seconds, and a throughput (also known as download speed) of 1438.51 kbps [wow!] (we’re testing from Sydney, Australia). Our eCommerce site, coriandercustomprinting.com, has a pageload time of 4.25 seconds, but a throughput of only 28kbps.
We’ve tested numerous SiteGround customers’ sites that we found on hosting-reviews, and while a few of them ranked similarly, the majority tested were around 300-400kbps and upwards.
We also looked at customers on Inmotion, and did our own testing on a Cloudways’ trial server. Here to we saw throughput speeds upwards of 500 to 600kbps on average.
The frustrating thing about these two sets of tests is that many of the sites that performed better were located State side, and from the comments left in reviews, are on shared hosting plans.
We also noticed that our dedicated and server IPs were located in the US – our server is in Singapore, and as I mentioned above, we’re in Sydney, Australia.
We’ll continue to work with SiteGround to try to resolve this issue, but if we can’t we’ll be moving to a different hosting plan with another provider. Which in many respects would be a shame, as the new cloud hosting is a vast improvement over the old troubled one, with tons of improvements and options. But at the end of the day, if the pipe connecting your service is really small, the super optioned VPS doesn’t really count for much.

    • Hello Mike, we were able to locate your correspondence with the support team and and as we see you have discussed in detail the situation you have encountered. As our Technical Support Manager was able to explain, it seems that the results are connected to 1). the fact that you are forcing SSL connection what affects the speed; and 2). The 2 files you were using for testing purposes, are actually not one and the same file. Those are 2 different files located under different directories on your server. It is only normal to get different results as there are multiple additional rules applied to the second one. There is an extensive .htaccess file with additional rules, as mentioned SSL is forced for this directory, multiple rewrite conditions that should be checked also. Our techs are ready to assist you further with this question if you wish, just update the latest ticket. Please keep us posted on your progress and contact us in case you have any questions in the future. Regards!

  42. Well, I joined about a week ago and I must say that the service is great and kind as well as professional. The answer to support ticket so fast I was shocked. So far so good, Hope it will stay that way.

  43. The best customer support I have ever, ever, ever experienced. I dont care about how many features ( too many ) cPanel has but good customer service is the thing that makes me stay with my service provider.
SiteGround is not only good but the are the Top of the line customer service team.
    Thank you
