AMP signifie Accelerated Mobile Pages (pages mobiles accélérées) et constitue un moyen de rendre le chargement de votre site plus rapide sur les appareils mobiles. Les sites à chargement rapide offrent une meilleure expérience utilisateur et peuvent améliorer le trafic.
Dans cet article, nous allons vous afficher comment configurer Google AMP dans WordPress.
Qu’est-ce que Google AMP ?
Google AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) est une initiative open-source annoncée en octobre 2015. Elle vise à accélérer le chargement des contenus web pour les utilisateurs mobiles.
La lecture des pages web sur les appareils mobiles peut être lente, car les pages riches en contenu peuvent mettre plusieurs secondes à se charger, malgré tous les efforts déployés par les propriétaires de sites pour accélérer leurs sites.
Google AMP utilise un minimum de HTML et un nombre limité de JavaScript et stocke le contenu sur Google AMP Cache. Google peut alors servir cette version en cache aux utilisateurs instantanément lorsqu’ils cliquent sur votre lien.
Cette démarche est similaire à celle des Instant Articles de Facebook. Mais alors que les Instant Articles sont limités aux applications mobiles de Facebook, Google AMP est agnostique en termes de plateforme et peut être utilisé par n’importe quel navigateur.
Cependant, l’utilisation de Google AMP est en baisse, et les premiers utilisateurs comme Twitter, LinkedIn et Reddit ne l’utilisent plus. De plus, les sites utilisant AMP ne sont plus prioritaires sur les pages de résultats de recherche.
Le site WPBeginner n’a jamais utilisé Google AMP, et nous recommandons à la plupart des sites d’optimiser plutôt les pages pour Core Web Vitals.
Cependant, l’extension AMP officielle est toujours disponible, et vous pouvez apprendre à configurer Accelerated Mobile Pages dans WordPress étape par étape.
Réglages des pages mobiles accélérées ou AMP dans WordPress
La première chose à faire est d’installer et d’activer l’extension AMP. Pour plus de détails, consultez notre guide étape par étape sur l’installation d’une extension WordPress.
Lors de l’activation, vous ouvrez l’assistant d’onboarding du plugin en cliquant sur le lien en haut de la page Plugins.
Note : Le plugin AMP a des problèmes de compatibilité avec certaines extensions WordPress populaires, telles que WPCode, le plugin d’extraits de code le plus prospecté. Les extensions actives incompatibles vous seront signalées en haut de la page.
La première page vous donne un aperçu de ce que fait l’extension. Une fois que vous l’avez lue, vous pouvez cliquer sur le bouton « Suivant » pour continuer.
La deuxième page de l’assistant vous permet de choisir votre formation technique.
Les utilisateurs avancés qui comprennent le code PHP, JavaScript, HTML et CSS peuvent cliquer sur la première option. Cependant, nous recommandons à la plupart des utilisateurs de choisir la deuxième option « non technique », car elle simplifie grandement la configuration de Google AMP.
Une fois que vous avez choisi une formation technique, cliquez sur le bouton « Suivant » pour continuer.
Le plugin va maintenant analyser votre site à la recherche de problèmes de compatibilité avec votre thème actif et vos extensions. Une fois l’analyse terminée, vous serez informé des problèmes éventuels.
Dans l’étape suivante de l’assistant d’onboarding, vous devez choisir un mode de modèles. Si aucun problème n’a été détecté lors de l’analyse du site, vous devez choisir l’option Standard.
Dans le cas contraire, vous devez lire le texte dans les sections Transition et Lecteur et choisir l’option recommandée.
Félicitations, lorsque vous cliquez sur le bouton » Suivant « , l’assistant sera terminé et vous verrez plusieurs aperçus AMP mobiles de votre site.
Veillez à cliquer sur le bouton « Terminer » pour stocker vos paramètres.
Vous pouvez désormais consulter n’importe quelle publication sur votre site et ajouter /amp/ à la fin de l’URL comme ceci pour voir une version AMP dépouillée de la publication.
http://example.com/my-blog-post/amp/
Celle-ci s’affichera automatiquement sur les appareils mobiles.

L’un des principaux problèmes de l’AMP est qu’il peut fausser vos données Google Analytics. Les internautes qui consultent vos pages AMP ne sont pas suivis avec précision et peuvent même être comptabilisés deux fois.

I tested AMP on the website for over 6 months. My conclusions are like this. The website worked faster on a mobile basis, but it had no effect on its position. Additionally, plug-in conflicts appeared from time to time. Also, fewer people on AMP pages accessed subsequent pages of the website. That’s why I believe responsive pages are better and more relevant than using AMP. I turned off AMP completely by myself some time ago.

As i can see why ‘wpbeginner’ didnt take the step to use AMP on they site, look at all the comments, i think that is why.
Still got error and bugs to clear, unfortunately i was trying to find solutions for using AMP but after all the comments here, i’ll take back my step … It’s not worth yet but for the Accelearating pages let just use cached plugins for now.
Until all quite good and no more trouble using AMP i will rewrite my step but for now, lets just stay low.

For me I will not install the plugin as you recommended.
I think you can get the best ranking when you have great content, seo, good speed which can be implemented without apm.

Hello. I have been using the AMP plugin by Automattic without any issues for the past 6 months. However we started getting AMP errors in search console that said Prohibited or invalid use of HTML Tag on 12 pages including this one

I hope the bug gets resolved fast as the pages have been removed from search results and have led to a loss of traffic.

Under the AMP Plugin. Go: AMP/Getting Started/Homepage then enable AMP Frontpage –> custom amp front page. Then, just below that you will select your homepage from the drop down menu.
It should all (finally) show up on the AMP version if your homepage/front page.

Very informative post and WordPress is among the early supporters of Google AMP Project. Google AMP plugin for WordPress is quite useful for making the mobile web faster i.e. 4 times faster, which will be a crucial factor for enhancing user experience.
Also, Baidu – the Chinese search engine is now supporting Google AMP project and will consider AMP sites in SERP result as Google has made it a norm for getting higher ranking on search result. Very soon others will be following the same trend and we will be witnessing Google’s footsteps.

As far as I understand, typing /amp at the end of the URL is only for testing, but the plugin already creates the AMP version of the posts and add the related HTML tag to the source code and then google will index those AMP posts and show them to mobile users

It looks like your previous attempt to install the plugin was interrupted. You need to connect to your website using FTP and then go to wp-content/plugins/ folder. Locate the AMP plugin folder and delete it.

I WANT to switch to AMP but since many of my posts have recipes, tables and image grids none of these show up on AMP pages.
I’d like to do AMP pages like the New York Times does, basically there is a long excerpt with a link to continue reading the story that takes you to the non-AMP page.

The correct way to implement AMP is to do it as apart of your theme. The AMP plugin is merely a band-aid to bridge the gap from an existing theme. AMP is so new that there’s very little examples of how to include it as your WordPress theme. I’d be interested in knowing if anyone has taken it this far yet. I’ve done some AMP development already and I find it to not be all the difficult.

To make it work on pages, you can use the AMP for WP plugin (this plugin requires the AMP plugin).
