Meno di un mese fa, WordPress 3.7 ha fatto il suo debutto. Sono state aggiunte molte caratteristiche sotto il cofano, come gli aggiornamenti automatici, ma niente che l’utente potesse vedere. WordPress 3.8, la cui versione è prevista per dicembre, sarà diverso. Questa versione può ricevere il focus sul miglioramento dell’interfaccia utente dell’area di amministrazione di WordPress, il che significa molti miglioramenti visivi. In questo articolo vi mostreremo le novità di WordPress 3.8 e come potete provare subito alcune di queste caratteristiche.
Molte delle caratteristiche proposte per WordPress 3.8 sono già disponibili per scopi di test e sviluppo come plugin. Nuova interfaccia utente per l’amministrazione di WordPress

È già in uso sui siti WordPress.com e potete provarlo installando il plugin. Dà all’interfaccia di amministrazione di WordPress un nuovo aspetto moderno, ottimizzato e curato che merita.
MP6 è caratterizzato da un’interfaccia utente semplificata e migliorata, con icone appiattite e bellissimi schemi di colori. È possibile scegliere uno schema di colori da Utenti ” Profilo.
L’attuale interfaccia di amministrazione predefinita ha solo due schemi di colori predefiniti che la fanno sembrare antica, quindi questi nuovi colori di ricarica saranno un bel cambiamento. MP6 utilizza il font Open Sans, che sarà spedito con WordPress 3.8. MP6 apporta anche grandi miglioramenti ai pulsanti, ai moduli e all’aspetto generale dell’interfaccia di amministrazione, rendendola più bella e facile da usare.
Una nuova Bacheca meno gonfia
Anche lo schermo della Bacheca subirà un lifting con WordPress 3.8. Sulla base del plugin Bacheca di @lessbloat e del team, la nuova dashboard di WordPress avrà meno widget e più rilevanti.
Ad esempio, il widget dei collegamenti in entrata sarà rimosso. Il widget ‘In questo momento’ sarà sostituito dal widget ‘Attività’. QuickPress sullo schermo della Bacheca sarà rinominato in Quick Draft e sarà molto più semplice.
Migliori anteprime in tempo reale dei temi
Lo schermo dei temi nell’attuale WordPress ha troppo testo. WordPress 3.8 porterà il plugin Theme Experience (nome in codice Thx38) nel core. Questo trasformerà gli schermi dei temi nell’area di amministrazione di WordPress. Le schermate dei temi sono più grandi e l’interfaccia utente è gratuita. La ricerca dei temi è stata spostata nell’angolo in alto a destra dello schermo. Per provare questo plugin su WordPress 3.7 o precedenti, è necessario installare prima il plugin MP6.
La nuova esperienza dei temi migliorerà notevolmente l’esperienza dell’anteprima dei temi. In WordPress 3.7 è ancora possibile vedere le anteprime dei temi senza attivarli. Tuttavia, la nuova esperienza per i temi fornirà una migliore interfaccia utente per farlo. È possibile chiudere completamente la barra laterale e vedere le anteprime dei temi a schermo intero. È anche molto più veloce e più bella del precedente schermo dei temi.
Un selezionatore di aree widget più amichevole e facile da usare

Twenty Fourteen sarà il nuovo tema predefinito per l’anno prossimo, la cui versione è prevista per WordPress 3.8. Si tratta di un tema in stile rivista con supporto per i contenuti in caratteristica da visualizzare in tutto il sito. Se il vostro sito non utilizza immagini in evidenza, Twenty Fourteen garantisce un aspetto gradevole anche senza immagini in evidenza.
Twenty Fourteen consente agli utenti di personalizzare l’area dei contenuti in evidenza. Possono scegliere un layout a griglia o un cursore. Gli utenti possono scegliere quali contenuti mettere in evidenza aggiungendo una tagga nel personalizzato del tema. Twenty Fourteen cercherà gli articoli con la tagga e li visualizzerà nell’area dei contenuti in caratteristica.
È possibile vedere una demo della versione attualmente in fase di sviluppo del tema qui.
Non siamo grandi fan di questo layout allineato a sinistra, ma vedremo se inizierà a piacerci. Dall’aspetto attuale, questo tema sembra estremamente affollato.
Altre caratteristiche
Un’altra caratteristica molto attesa è Omnisearch. Si tratta di una caratteristica di ricerca globale dell’amministratore che può essere utilizzata per cercare media, articoli, pagine, contenuti, file, plugin e temi sul vostro sito WordPress. È in fase di sviluppo e non verrà spedita con la versione 3.8.

I think I read somewhere that the core was being split up in such a way that different teams can updates parts of the core without having to wait for a major update. That way we can get updates from teams that move quicker.
Did that actually happen? Did core get re-arranged?

Thank you for this post! I have the new WP loaded and have found that the widgets area doesn’t work! Have have moveable widgets and have aren’t moveable at all! How do I fix it? Uninstall and install the new WP version again?

Well hello Syed Balkhi and team whilst its great news to hear about further improvements to WordPress what I would really love to see is a way to manage revisions.
For instance once we publish an article why not automatically, or manually purge all the revisions which for a complicated post or page can run into double digits which of course clutters the database.
As Dave has pointed out there are far more important tweaks to be made than simply creating new themes and adding a splash of color to the dashboard! This lack of ambition is one reason why the there is a growing discussion about the merits of switching to alternatives with greater ambition

@igor We totally agree with you that there should be a better way to manage revisions, as well as over all editorial workflow. At WPBeginner we user Editflow but there are many things that can be integrated right into core. The core development team is aware of these things and in fact there is work under progress to address these things.

Thank you for this post. I would have been very confused with the next update. So far, the updates have kept the interface the same with no learning curve. So this really helps.
I don’t know what my favorite is, because I have not had problems since they fixed the bug that lost work when updating.
Other than that, its hard to imagine that this free platform is so comprehensive. Thanks Mary

I hope the admin-interface will provide a more visible look for input-fields… these tiny highly grey borders are really a pest for people whose eyes not as sharp as they were once, ;=(

Definitely will welcome the new Dashboard and 2014 theme. And I do hope they’ve made the user experience better for adding widgets to sidebars, especially if you’ve a lot of widgets and had to scroll.

I’m still disappointed that they’re not addressing the image gallery. It’s extremely difficult to browse images in the gallery if your site has hundreds or thousands of images. They need to add an image taxonomy for organizing images into categories.

Looking very promising. Lots of improvements on the visual experience site, I like that. I don’t know about the new 2014 theme-aims more towards a specific target group like photographers, portfolios etc. My favorite theme of all time is definitely the FREE Responsive theme-Easy to customize.
I’ve been using the MP6 plug-in for a little while now and I love it-it was overdue to amp up the dashboard with a more up-to-date look.
One thing though I’m missing is that the media gallery interface is still as clumsy and un-intuitive as can be. Would be great if it had some contents organizing tools build in, to help group contents into folders based on different criteria-sort of like Adobe Bridge.
I’m using the Media Grid plug-in right now and it makes the browsing through images a lot easier.
Overall I’m excited about the new release. Thanks for this great review of the upcoming release.

Interesting features, but nothing really exciting. May hold off on updating for awhile longer to see if WordPress needs to work out any kinks.

Been using the mp6 since the begining. Love that it is now being introduced in WordPress full time. Love the 2014 theme as well. Didn’t like the 2013 theme at all.
