È il nono quarto. Il 4 luglio di nove anni fa ho avviato WPBeginner. Non riesco a credere che abbiamo fatto tanta strada.
Come ogni anno, voglio prendermi qualche minuto per fare un rapido riepilogo di tutte le cose più importanti che sono accadute negli affari e nella mia vita personale.
Storia di WPBeginner
Ho iniziato a usare WordPress a 16 anni e ho fondato WPBeginner a 19 anni con un’unica missione: rendere WordPress facile per i principianti.
Da allora WPBeginner è diventato il più grande sito di risorse gratuite su WordPress per principianti.

Aggiornamenti personali
Mio figlio, Solomon, ha ora 20 mesi. Il tempo vola e lui cresce così in fretta. Amanda (mia moglie) e Solomon si sono uniti a me in molti dei miei viaggi di lavoro e abbiamo fatto anche diversi viaggi divertenti.
Dall’ultimo post sull’anniversario di WPBeginner, siamo stati in Turchia, Dubai, Pakistan, Messico (Cabo, Punta Mita, Cancun) e Bahamas (due volte). Solomon ha anche partecipato al WordCamp US di Nashville, portando a 3 le sue presenze ai WordCamp.
All’inizio di quest’anno ho ricevuto un premio per l’eccellenza dei giovani ex alunni dall’Università della Florida (alma mater). Ho anche assistito alla partita di football universitario dalla President Suite e ho incontrato tantissime persone straordinarie.
Ho iniziato a lavorare in un ufficio fisico per 3 giorni alla settimana. È stato fantastico perché mi permette di concentrarmi e di fare di più. Inoltre, quando sono a casa, posso passare più tempo con Solomon. L’anno scorso ho ampliato il mio portafoglio immobiliare e ho aggiunto un edificio Wells Fargo. Ho creato il mio ufficio su uno dei piani ed è bello avere la banca come inquilino.
Aggiornamenti di WPBeginner
Grazie a tutti voi, WPBeginner ha continuato a crescere a doppia cifra (anno su anno). Ci sono stati diversi aggiornamenti degni di nota rispetto all’anno scorso, che vorrei sottolineare.
1. Abbiamo superato i 100.000 iscritti a YouTube
Uno dei miei obiettivi dell’anno scorso era quello di superare i 100.000 abbonati su YouTube prima di scrivere questo post di anniversario. Ce l’abbiamo fatta.
Ora siamo a oltre 102.000 iscritti e i nostri video hanno superato i 10 milioni di visualizzazioni.

Ora sto solo aspettando di ottenere il mio terzo pulsante di riproduzione su YouTube 
Ho un pulsante di riproduzione Oro e un pulsante di riproduzione Argento dal mio altro sito web, List25, che ha oltre 2,3 milioni di iscritti a YouTube.
2. SSL e notifiche push
Avrete notato che WPBeginner utilizza ora il protocollo SSL. A partire da luglio, Google Chrome contrassegna come insicuri tutti i siti web che non utilizzano l’SSL. Anche se su WPBeginner non riscuotiamo pagamenti, siamo andati avanti con il cambiamento perché teniamo alla sicurezza dei nostri lettori.

Oltre all’aggiunta dell’SSL, abbiamo anche aggiunto le notifiche push a WPBeginner. Potreste aver già notato la notifica di iscrizione. È un ottimo modo per rimanere aggiornati sui nuovi post e sulle nuove guide di WPBeginner.
3. Audit e riscritture
Uno dei nostri obiettivi di quest’anno è quello di fare un’importante revisione dei contenuti dei nostri vecchi post. WPBeginner ha più di 2000 tutorial gratuiti su WordPress. Abbiamo ampliato il nostro team, in modo da poter aggiornare tempestivamente i post più vecchi.
Ci stiamo anche preparando a una revisione dei contenuti di grande portata dopo il lancio di Gutenberg. Questa sarà una grande sfida per noi nel corso dell’anno.
4. Infrastruttura server WPBeginner migliorata
Una settimana sì e una no, ricevo un’e-mail da un utente che mi chiede quali siano i segreti della velocissima velocità di WPBeginner. La risposta è l’infrastruttura e la cache.
Con la crescita di WPBeginner, abbiamo bisogno di investire continuamente nella nostra infrastruttura server. Il nostro partner per l’hosting di WordPress, HostGator, ha lavorato per costruire un’infrastruttura completamente personalizzata e distribuita su più data center per garantire un’elevata disponibilità. L’anno scorso hanno migliorato il nostro hardware e il livello di caching che utilizziamo sul sito.
Sono cliente di HostGator dal 2007 e WPBeginner è stato ospitato con loro fin dal primo giorno (vedi la mia recensione completa di HostGator). Voglio ringraziare l’intero team che ci ha aiutato con l’aggiornamento.
Nota: WPBeginner utilizza i server dedicati multipli di HostGator (non l’hosting condiviso).
Oltre a HostGator, utilizziamo anche Sucuri per il firewall delle applicazioni web e MaxCDN come provider di CDN, che svolgono entrambi un ruolo importante nella velocità complessiva del nostro sito web.

Aggiornamenti del prodotto
Mi sorprende ancora quando sento dire: “Non sapevo che WPBeginner fosse dietro a quel prodotto”. Abbiamo persino una pagina dei prodotti nel menu principale del sito.
La nostra suite di plugin per WordPress è ora in esecuzione su oltre 6 milioni di siti web (raddoppiati rispetto all’anno scorso). Di seguito sono riportati alcuni aggiornamenti degni di nota:
MonsterInsights
MonsterInsights è il più popolare plugin di Google Analytics per WordPress. Vi aiuta a vedere tutte le statistiche che contano proprio all’interno della vostra dashboard di WordPress.
MonsterInsights è diventato uno dei miei plugin preferiti per WordPress nell’ultimo anno, grazie alla nuova interfaccia di reporting e agli aggiornamenti che il nostro team ha apportato.
Il motivo principale per cui amo MonsterInsights è che mi aiuta a far crescere la nostra attività con fiducia. Credo sinceramente che sia facile raddoppiare il traffico e le vendite quando si sa esattamente come le persone trovano e utilizzano il proprio sito web. MonsterInsights mi aiuta a prendere decisioni basate sui dati per far crescere la nostra attività.
Offre report personalizzati per editori e siti di e-commerce con informazioni utili che posso utilizzare per incrementare le nostre entrate.

WPForms

Quest’anno abbiamo deciso di vendere questi due plugin per WordPress, in modo da poterci concentrare meglio sulla nostra suite di strumenti di crescita in rapida crescita.

Do you recall that a couple of plugins that were in the WP repository were bought and sold and that the buyer inserted malicious code into the plugins? Now whenever I think about using a plugin, I look to see its history, who makes it, any warning bells, etc.
Well when your company is behind a plugin, that’s a big reassurance that the plugin is in safe hands.
