WordPress 4.3 è stato rilasciato pochi minuti fa. Si tratta della seconda major release di WordPress di quest’anno. Presenta alcune nuove funzionalità e risolve molti problemi. In questo articolo vi mostreremo quali sono le novità di WordPress 4.3 e quali funzioni dovreste provare dopo aver aggiornato i vostri siti.
Si tratta di una release importante e, a meno che non abbiate un hosting WordPress gestito, dovrete avviare manualmente l’aggiornamento.
Importante: Non dimenticate di creare un backup completo di WordPress prima di avviare l’aggiornamento.
Menu nel Customizer
I widget sono stati aggiunti al Customizer in WordPress 3.9, ed era logico aspettarsi lo stesso per i menu. Ora, con WordPress 4.3, potrete modificare, creare e gestire i menu dal Customizer. Basta andare su Aspetto ” Personalizzazione e poi fare clic sulla scheda Menu.
Il vecchio modo di aggiungere menu di navigazione in WordPress sarà ancora presente. Tuttavia, la speranza è che con i menu nel customizer, il processo di modifica dei menu diventi più veloce e semplice per i nuovi utenti di WordPress.
Nuova funzione per le icone del sito
WordPress non disponeva di una funzione per aggiungere l’icona del sito o la favicon. Gli utenti dovevano caricare manualmente la propria favicon o utilizzare dei plugin per aggiungerla. Con WordPress 4.3, è possibile aggiungere l’icona del sito dall’area di amministrazione di WordPress.
Password più forti per impostazione predefinita
Molti utenti attenti alla sicurezza volevano che WordPress suggerisse automaticamente password più forti per i nuovi utenti. WordPress 4.3 ora suggerisce password più forti per impostazione predefinita.
Quando un utente richiede la reimpostazione della password, vedrà una password più forte già suggerita nel campo di reimpostazione della password.
Quando si aggiunge un nuovo utente, WordPress gli invierà un link per impostare una password, invece di inviare le password in testo normale.
L’obiettivo principale di questa revisione è quello di educare gli utenti e migliorare la sicurezza delle password in WordPress. La scusa più comune per non utilizzare password più forti è che sono difficili da ricordare. Ma ci sono modi migliori per gestire le password di WordPress rispetto al semplice ricordarle.
Miglioramenti all’editor
L’area di modifica dei post è il luogo in cui la maggior parte degli utenti di WordPress trascorre il proprio tempo. È qui che si creano i contenuti e WordPress li rende facilissimi con il suo semplice e bellissimo editor visivo. Tuttavia, premere il pulsante significa usare il mouse o il touchpad, il che spezza il ritmo della scrittura.
WordPress 4.3 è dotato di scorciatoie di testo in linea che formattano automaticamente il testo durante la digitazione. Non è nemmeno necessario toccare i pulsanti dell’editor o ricaricare la pagina. Le modifiche vengono applicate istantaneamente nell’editor.
- Utilizzando * o – si avvia un elenco non ordinato.
- Utilizzando 1. si avvia un elenco ordinato.
- L’uso di # trasformerà in h1. ## per h2, ### per h3 e così via.
- L’uso di > trasformerà in blockquote.
È possibile consultare l’elenco completo delle scorciatoie facendo clic sull’icona di aiuto nell’editor visuale.
Commenti per Pagine in WordPress
Le pagine in WordPress dovrebbero essere contenuti statici non cronologici. Consultate la nostra guida sulla differenza tra post e pagine di WordPress. Ciò significa che nella maggior parte degli scenari di utilizzo non è necessario attivare i commenti per le pagine. Tuttavia, WordPress ha abilitato i commenti per le pagine per impostazione predefinita. Gli utenti dovevano disattivare manualmente i commenti per le loro pagine in WordPress.
WordPress 4.3 risolve questo problema e dopo l’aggiornamento alla versione 4.3, ogni nuova pagina creata avrà i commenti disabilitati per impostazione predefinita.

Miglioramento della pressione di questo strumento
È proseguito il lavoro sul rinnovato strumento Press This. In WordPress 4.3, lo strumento Press This dispone ora di un editor di testo e di un editor visivo. Molti utenti avanzati di WordPress trovano che l’editor di testo sia più utile per le loro esigenze rispetto all’editor visuale. Questa modifica consentirà loro di passare facilmente dall’uno all’altro.
Miglioramenti sotto il cofano

On lost password prompt (in yellow box), the word used is “email”
Then on the same page, over the empty rectangle where the customer types, the word used is “E-mail”
Word Press techies: You need to be consistent in your use of the English language and grammar.
I would suggest you stick with email or Email
Please do not use both email and e-mail on the same page!
My customers are teachers and catch grammar errors.
Also, I use “Sign In” for my website.
All you use is “Log In” and do not allow a change to “Sign In”
Why must we use Log In? Why not allow a choice of “Log In” and “Log Out” and “Sign In” and “Sign Out”?
Before I decided on Sign In, I checked websites, and Sign In was the most frequently used.
But, I forgot to check with Word Press that is forcing my customers to see “Sign In” then “Log Out”
Please fix your grammar for email.
Please allow a choice for our web site to either Sign In and Sign Out or Log In and Log Out.

Love the reset password thing for new users but for sites that like to work on front-end only can there be a way to set a ‘reset password’ page???
Also PLEASE make it where when typing in a new password, by default it hides the password. I hate typing in a password and people around my computer can see it!

Hi, I’m new to WP and I was auto-upgraded to 4.3 but I can’t seem to find a whole of features that was shown in the tutorials video like the Kitchen sink, break link, etc… It has a whole lotta abbreviations on the edit menu that ain’t in the video. It’s beginning to feel like I have an older version only that I don’t even know what it looks like.

My sidebar widgets are out of order since my site was updated. Every plugin I’ve looked at says it is not tested for 4.3. I tried one anyway, and it worked for a few hours, then the widgets went out of order again. Do you have any suggestions for this problem? Thanks very much.

Most likely your theme does not support header. You can click on Customize to see if there is an option for header in there.

This is controlled by your site’s theme. It doesn’t really have anything to do with WP 4.3. (just the additional method for creating a block quote is what changed)

I keep getting this line of error after upgrading WordPress and even after trying to do as it states in a client’s function.php file:

One of the plugins on your website is using an old method. Deactivate all your plugins one by one until this notice disappears. Once you find the plugin causing this, you can reach out to plugin’s author and inform them about the issue.

Thank you for the response. I think the problem has to do with the theme installed. On reverting to the default “twenty fifteen” theme, the error message disappeared. I have emailed the support team of the theme.

Thanks for looking into it–I need to disable this also. Nobody on our editorial staff likes or even wants it. We may end up exporting the site and rolling back to 4.2 if we can’t find a way to get rid of this unwanted so-called feature.
