WordPress 3.9では、テーマカスタマイザーでウィジェットのライブプレビューを見ることができます。ウィジェットカスタマイザーでは、ウィジェットの編集、並べ替え、新しいウィジェットの追加も可能です。
エキサイティングな点は、すべて同じ画面のライブプレビューペインで確認できることです。WordPressの以前のバージョンでは、ウィジェットを除くほとんどのテーマ機能をカスタマイズ画面から編集することができた。この機能により、テーマカスタマイザーは完全で、より強力になりました。因みに、以前のウィジェット画面もそのまま残っているので、昔ながらの方法でウィジェットを管理することもできる。
この機能を試すには、ウィジェットカスタマイザープラグインをインストールして有効化することができます。有効化した後、外観 ” カスタマイザーに移動し、テーマでサポートされている各ウィジェット準備エリアとサイドバーのウィジェットセクションに気づくでしょう。
音声/動画プレイリスト
WordPress 3.9では、ユーザーは音声/動画プレイリストを作成できるようになります。音声/動画プレイリストは、画像ギャラリーのようにショートコードとして機能します。複数の音声/動画ファイルをアップロードし、WordPressメディアアップローダーからプレイリストとして追加することができます。
WordPressはまた、ID3タグを使って添付ファイルのカバーやアルバム情報を取得しようとしますが、これはテーマの機能に該当します。バンドやミュージシャン向けのWordPressテーマにとっては、とても便利な機能になるでしょう。
ビジュアルエディターTinyMCE更新
WordPressのビジュアルエディターは、オープンソースのエディターであるTinyMCEをベースにしています。TinyMCEは最近ソフトウェアのメジャーアップデートをリリースしたので、このリリースではWordPress TinyMCEが更新されます。この更新により、ビジュアル・エディターには多くの改良が加えられました。実際、WordPress 3.9はWordPressでの執筆/編集体験を向上させることに重点を置いていると言えます。これらの改良点のいくつかは以下の通りです：

Microsoft Wordから直接テキストを貼り付けても、変な文字にはなりません。もう「Wordから貼り付け」ボタンを押す必要はありません。本当に〜してもよいですか？
新規テーマ追加画面の改善
テーマ画面もさらに改善されます。WordPressに新しいテーマを追加するための、新しく洗練されたスタイリッシュなUIが追加されます。注目のテーマのスクリーンショットが表示されます。また、タブをクリックして人気のタグやフィルターを切り替えたり、公式テーマディレクトリから新しいテーマを検索することもできます。
開発者向け
上記の特筆すべき機能とは別に、開発者ユーザーにとって有益と思われる更新がいくつかあった。以下は、私たちが興味を持った2つである：
- WordPress 画像の切り抜き位置 – これまでは、追加の画像サイズは水平方向と垂直方向の中央に切り抜かれていました。今回のリリースでは、画像の切り抜き位置を開発者が決定できるようになります。(#19393)
- Autosaveのリファクタリング – Autosaveには多くの「動く部分」があり、長年にわたって多くの追加機能が「固定」されていました。WordPress 3.6では、ログアウト警告やnonceの更新など、追加機能のほとんどがheartbeatに移されました。このリリースでは、投稿データの保存は当初の予定通り heartbeat に移されました。(#25272)

In the last 2 version 3.8 and 3.9 I see WP deliver good update.
But I hope it will be continued like this.
We need WP to be more for website development instead of mostly for blogging.
– Remove the date month and year folder and make it global folder
– Support mobile more and more. including the admin

They’ve started rolling out some of the beta changes, and the new (less flexible in practice) image editor is causing massive negativity. Check out the forums… not as good as it initially appeared. Hm, let’s hope the beta really is a beta…

The new WordPress 3.9 is really exciting enough. I really the editor part, the new updates of TinyMCE is really great and specially the drag n drop and instant image crop. Hope there is also some work done on core editor part of it.

Biggest thing I’m excited to see is the ability to choose the crop position when registering new image sizes. I can’t begin to tell you how many time’s I’ve wanted to do that. I’m also happy to see the Paste From Word button going by the wayside. One less thing to warn clients about is always a plus! I’m not sure whats up with the new UI for themes. Was it really that bad?! Maybe they have something else up their sleeve for WP 4 that this will play into.

The Media Library update began with a Core Plugin project.
– A grid view was created.
– Tags were added in (later commented out in the code).
Development stopped because the lack of developer contribution. If your interested in checking out the Core Project (features as plugin).
