DreamHost has been selling web hosting since 1997, and it is one of the few hosts that WordPress.org officially recommends. A long track record is reassuring, but it does not tell you how fast a host is today.
In July 2026, I tested DreamHost the same way I tested 14 other WordPress hosting companies, with an identical WordPress site on a custom domain, the same tools, and the same checklist.
This DreamHost review shows you the real numbers from my hosting speed test, plus the pricing details that most reviews gloss over.
Quick Answer – Is DreamHost Worth It?
Yes, DreamHost is worth it if you want the lowest long-term hosting bill of any host we recommend. It scored 64 out of 100 on our WPBeginner Score, which places it 7th out of our 7 recommended hosts.
In our hosting speed test, the DreamHost site loaded its main content in under a second. That is fast enough for a typical blog or small business site, and every plan includes daily backups that most budget hosts skip.
The trade-off to know is that it was not as quick as our other budget picks, and the headline price requires a 4-year commitment.

About DreamHost
DreamHost was founded in 1997 by four college friends in California, and it remains one of the last independently owned hosting companies. Today it powers over 1.5 million websites, including more than 750,000 WordPress installs.

DreamHost is also a certified carbon-neutral host, which is a nice bonus if sustainability matters to you. And while WordPress.org’s recommendation matters, I did not let it influence this review.
The verdict below comes from what my hosting speed tests actually measured.
Pros and Cons of DreamHost
Pros
- The lowest renewal price of any host we recommend, printed right on the plan card
- Daily backups on every plan, where Bluehost backs up weekly at a higher price
- 25 websites, 25 GB NVMe storage, and unmetered bandwidth on the entry plan
- Free domain for the first year with free domain privacy included – many hosts charge extra for privacy
- Zero downtime during our 30-day monitoring window
- Independently owned since 1997, with month-to-month billing available on every plan
Cons
- Slower page loads than the other budget hosts we tested
- Not the host for traffic-spike businesses (see the stress test below)
- The headline price requires a 4-year commitment paid upfront
- Email becomes a paid add-on after a 3-month free trial
- No phone line – support is live chat and email, with paid callbacks
How I Tested DreamHost (Methodology)
I used the same testing protocol for every hosting company in our comparison. I set up an identical WordPress site with a default theme and test content, including images, on a custom domain.
Then I ran the same four tests – GTmetrix for speed and LCP, k6 for stress with 50 virtual users at the same time, a response-time test from 6 global regions, and 30 days of UptimeRobot monitoring.
Those four tests make up the performance side of the WPBeginner Score, which counts for 80% of the total. Each test carries a set weight, so no single lucky number can carry a host.
The other 20% of the score comes from value. For that part I look at what the plan really costs and gives you in return – the intro price, the renewal price, how many sites and how much storage you get, the plan limits, and the quality of support.
The full methodology, the exact weights, and every host’s raw numbers are in our best WordPress hosting guide.
DreamHost Performance Test Results
Below you can find my full DreamHost speed test results.
Speed Test – 986 ms LCP
Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) measures how quickly the main content of a page appears. It is the speed number that Google’s Core Web Vitals care about most.
My DreamHost test site showed its main content in just under one second, and the full page finished loading in 1.5 seconds.

I will be honest about this number. A load time around one second is fine for a starter site with no optimization.
However, when I tested other popular hosts, the median LCP was 659 ms. Among the budget hosts, Hostinger was the quickest at a similar price.
So DreamHost does not win on raw speed in our data. It competes on price and limits instead, which the pricing section below covers.
Server Response Time – 658 ms Global Average
Speed test tools load the whole page with images included, but that is only one part of the performance. To see raw server speed, I also measured time to first byte (TTFB) from data centers in 6 regions around the world.
The heading above shows DreamHost’s average across all 6 regions.

Response times were good in the US and Canada, and slower in the other regions. Our test site ran in DreamHost’s default US location, so this pattern makes sense.
If your audience is mostly in North America, DreamHost’s response speed will serve you fine. If your audience is global, DreamHost does not include a CDN on these plans, so I recommend adding Cloudflare’s free CDN to serve content from locations closer to your visitors.
Stress Test – 245 ms P95 Response
To see how a host behaves under a traffic spike, I send 50 virtual users to the test site with K6 by Grafana Labs and record the P95 response time. P95 means 95% of all requests finished faster than that number.
DreamHost held a 245 ms P95 response, and not a single request failed. The site stayed up through the whole run.

Still, that number is the weakest under-load result of the hosts we recommend.
In practice, a quarter of a second under 50 simultaneous visitors is still fast for a typical blog, portfolio, or small business site. Most new websites never see 50 visitors in the same moment.
You should care about this result if your business depends on traffic spikes. If you are planning a store with sale-day rushes or content that attracts press mentions, then a managed host like Levamo is built for exactly that load.
Uptime – Zero Downtime Over 30 Days
I monitored the DreamHost test site with UptimeRobot, checking every 5 minutes. Over the 30-day window, it recorded 100% uptime with no incidents.

DreamHost goes further than most hosts here, and its uptime guarantee promises zero downtime where most budget hosts only promise 99.9%. It backs that promise with multiple data center locations, redundant cooling, emergency generators, and constant monitoring.
In our monitoring window, DreamHost lived up to its own promise.
How DreamHost Compares to Other Hosts We Tested
The speed test numbers on their own do not give you the full picture. Here is how DreamHost performed compared to other similarly priced hosts from our comparison, all tested with the identical setup.
| Host | LCP | Global response | Uptime | Intro / renewal | WPBeginner Score |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| DreamHost | 986 ms | 658 ms | 100% | $1.99 / $7.99 | 64 / 100 |
| Hostinger | 659 ms | 227 ms | 100% | $2.69 / $10.99 | 88 / 100 |
| Bluehost | 933 ms | 599 ms | 100% | $2.99 / $9.99 | 69 / 100 |
| SiteGround | 608 ms | 369 ms | 100% | $2.99 / $17.99 | 75 / 100 |
The WPBeginner Score weighs performance at 80% and value at 20%. DreamHost’s 64 reflects exactly what you see above – it trails the group on speed, while its value is the strongest of the four.
DreamHost has the lowest renewal price of the group, so it costs the least over the long run. It is also the only one of these four that includes daily backups at the entry price, where Bluehost backs up weekly.

DreamHost’s Infrastructure and Technology
Most other DreamHost reviews skip what runs under the hood, and I believe it is worth highlighting.
Storage – every plan runs on NVMe SSD storage, which is the faster generation of SSD. DreamHost says NVMe delivers up to 10 times faster load times than older SATA drives.
Control panel – DreamHost built its own control panel instead of licensing cPanel. You manage domains, databases, email, SSL, and backups from one place, and advanced users still get a full Unix shell.
Data centers – DreamHost serves shared and WordPress hosting from its US data centers in Ashburn, Virginia and Hillsboro, Oregon. Its newer Amsterdam and Singapore locations mainly serve its cloud and VPS products, so plan on a CDN if your audience is global.
Security and backups – every plan includes unlimited free SSL certificates from Let’s Encrypt, daily automated backups, and on-demand performance scans. Domain privacy comes free with the free domain, which many hosts sell as a paid extra.
Developer tools – you get SSH access, crontab, raw log files, MySQL databases, PHP 8, and support for Rails, Python, and Perl. That is more backend freedom than most budget hosts allow.
DreamHost Hosting Plans and Pricing
DreamHost offers shared web hosting, managed WordPress hosting, VPS, cloud, and dedicated servers. For most readers of this review, the three shared Web Hosting plans are the relevant ones.
| Plan | Web Hosting Launch | Web Hosting Growth | Web Hosting Scale |
|---|---|---|---|
| Intro price (4-year term) | $1.99/mo | $3.49/mo | $7.99/mo |
| Renews at | $7.99/mo | $8.99/mo | $19.99/mo |
| Websites | 25 | 50 | 100 |
| Monthly visits | ~40,000 | ~200,000 | ~400,000 |
| Storage | 25 GB NVMe | 50 GB NVMe | 100 GB NVMe |
| 20 mailboxes (3 months free) | 40 mailboxes (3 months free) | 60 mailboxes (3 months free) |
The honest catch is the term. The intro prices above come with our link on a 4-year term, and you pay the full term at checkout.
On DreamHost’s public pricing page, the same Launch plan on a 1-year term costs $2.89 per month and renews at $10.99 per month. If you would rather not commit at all, every plan also offers monthly billing at a higher rate.
I like that DreamHost prints the renewal rate right on the plan card instead of hiding it in fine print. Whatever term you pick, you know what year two costs before you pay.
All plans include daily backups, unmetered bandwidth, unlimited free SSL, a free starter website, and a free domain for the first year on any 1-year or longer term. All plans also come with a 30-day money-back guarantee.
DreamHost also sells DreamPress, its managed WordPress line, from $14.99 per month with built-in caching, a CDN, staging, and unlimited email. Most readers should start on the Web Hosting Launch plan and upgrade only when their traffic demands it.
Free and Paid Hosting Addons
DreamHost’s headline price is honest, but a few extras start free and later cost money. Knowing these up front will save you surprise charges.
- Free domain – free for the first year on 1-year and multi-year terms, and it includes free domain privacy protection, which many hosts sell separately. After year one, the domain renews at the standard registration rate. This is fairly standard practice across shared hosts that offer a free domain.
- Professional Email – a 3-month free trial on every Web Hosting plan. After the trial, mailboxes start at $19.99 per mailbox per year, so budget for it if you need email at your own domain.
- Remixer AI website builder – free for the first 30 days on Web Hosting plans. Treat it as a trial rather than a permanent freebie.
- Refund rules – every plan comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee on the hosting itself. DreamHost issues refunds to credit card payments, so pay by card if you think you might use the guarantee.
DreamHost for WordPress Beginners
DreamHost skips cPanel entirely and gives you its own custom control panel. Websites, domains, email, databases, and backups all sit in one clean dashboard.

If you have used cPanel for years, expect a short adjustment period. If this is your first host, there is nothing to unlearn, and the panel covers the essentials without the clutter.
Getting WordPress running is easy. You can have DreamHost pre-install WordPress at signup, or use its WordPress install assistant from the panel in about a minute.
Two extras stand out for first-timers. DreamHost’s team builds you a free 4-page starter website, and its Liftoff AI builder can launch a personalized WordPress site in under 60 seconds.
If you already have a site somewhere else, DreamHost includes a free automatic migration plugin that moves your WordPress site over for you.
DreamHost Customer Support
DreamHost runs its support fully in-house, with no outsourcing. You can reach the team 24/7 through live chat or email tickets from the control panel.

There is no phone line to call. DreamHost offers callbacks instead, but they cost extra and are not part of every plan.
To be fair, phone support is rare at budget hosting prices, and most hosts at this level stick to chat.
DreamHost’s support team has won Gold Stevie and Globee awards for customer service, and it includes people who contribute to WordPress core. That matters when your question is about WordPress itself rather than the server.
Who Should Use DreamHost and Who Should Look Elsewhere
Choose DreamHost if you are building your first website on the smallest possible budget and want the bill to stay low at renewal. You get daily backups, generous site and storage limits, and a free domain with privacy included, all from a host that has been around since 1997.
Its zero-downtime record in our monitoring backs the reliability claim.
Look elsewhere if raw speed is your priority, since Hostinger and SiteGround both beat DreamHost in our tests. The same goes if you want cPanel, need phone support on an entry plan (SiteGround), or run a high-traffic store that needs proven performance under load, where Levamo is the stronger pick (see our full hosting comparison).
Final Verdict – Is DreamHost the Right Choice for You?
DreamHost is perfect for beginners who want the lowest long-term hosting bill without giving up daily backups or generous limits. It has earned trust since 1997 by keeping its pricing plain – the renewal rate sits right on the plan card, and every plan offers monthly billing.
My verdict – if budget decides your hosting choice, visit DreamHost and start on the Web Hosting Launch plan. If speed is your deciding factor, our best WordPress hosting comparison shows which host won each category on the same tests.
FAQs About DreamHost
1. What are the disadvantages of DreamHost?
Based on our tests, the main ones are page loads that trail our other budget picks and softer results under sustained traffic. On the billing side, the headline price needs a 4-year commitment, email becomes a paid add-on after a 3-month trial, and there is no standard phone support.
2. Is DreamHost good for WordPress?
Yes. DreamHost is one of the few hosts WordPress.org officially recommends, and its support team includes WordPress core contributors.
You get a WordPress install assistant, a free automatic migration plugin, and daily backups on every plan.
For heavier WordPress sites, its DreamPress line adds managed features like staging and a built-in CDN.
3. Is DreamHost good for beginners?
Yes. The custom control panel is clean, DreamHost’s team builds you a free starter website, and 24/7 chat is there when you get stuck.
The main adjustment is that there is no cPanel, but most beginners adapt to the dashboard quickly.
4. Does DreamHost use cPanel?
No. DreamHost built its own control panel instead.
You can still manage MySQL databases, change PHP versions, install WordPress in one click, and control SSH and FTP access, so you lose the familiar layout rather than the features.
5. Can DreamHost handle high traffic?
DreamHost rates its shared plans for 40,000 to 400,000 monthly visits, and bandwidth is unmetered, so a busy month never triggers overage fees. In our stress test, the site stayed up with zero failed requests at 50 concurrent users.
For a business built on traffic spikes, such as a store with big sale days, a managed host like Levamo is the safer pick.
6. Which is better, Bluehost or DreamHost?
On our identical tests, the speed difference was small – Bluehost loaded at 933 ms, just 53 ms ahead of DreamHost. DreamHost costs less over the long run and includes daily backups, where Bluehost backs up weekly.
Bluehost counters with the simplest setup we have seen and phone support on its higher plans. Pick DreamHost for the budget, and Bluehost for the most hand-held start.
7. Which is better, DreamHost or SiteGround?
SiteGround was faster in our tests, loading at 608 ms, and it includes phone support on every plan. However, it renews at $17.99 per month, more than double DreamHost’s renewal rate.
Choose SiteGround if speed and support matter more than cost. Choose DreamHost if the long-term bill decides.
8. Where are DreamHost’s servers located?
DreamHost’s main data centers are in Ashburn, Virginia and Hillsboro, Oregon, with headquarters in Brea, California. Its newer Amsterdam and Singapore locations mainly serve its cloud and VPS products.
Our test site ran in the default US location, which is why North American response times were strong while other regions lagged. A CDN closes most of that gap for global audiences.
9. Can I install WooCommerce on DreamHost?
Yes, you can install WooCommerce on DreamHost’s web hosting and VPS plans. A new store with modest traffic will run fine on the shared plans.
As your store grows, plan to move to managed hosting, because stores are harder on a server than blogs.

I have used this for about 2 years. I love the prompt, clear, succinct tech support responses. It takes a bit of lifting of your own, but the support is there and it is good. I also chose it because I heard their privacy settings were much more respectable than the average host. The price is just right.

I’ve been a customer of Dreamhost for 8 years, after trying numerous other hosting solutions.
The support people have always been helpful, quick to respond to questions and/or problems and always gave me instructions that I could follow and learn from…AND THEY HAVE NEVER TALKED DOWN TO ME. Even when I was a relative newbie, they were always courteous and treated me as a valued subscriber. This was particularly refreshing after the numerous experiences I had with the technical support people on the OTHER hosting options I tried. They have my loyalty because they have ALWAYS treated me with patience, understanding and CLEAR instructions (even doing things FOR me when I was overwhelmed at the beginning).
I love the online chat help and I really love One-Click installs.
I recommend Dreamhost to everyone!
Federico
Affordable fast and responsive hosting. I recommend it.
Adam Nash
I’ve been a Dreamhost customer for 8 years. Great service: real, knowledgeable people, patient and helpful without being patronizing or obsequious. They really know their stuff, their product is rock solid, does exactly what they say it does and is well supported. I have no hesitation in recommending Dreamhost as the best hosting provider in the world, without a doubt.
Kourosh
I’ve been using Dreamhost for years. Their customer service has been consistently responsive and helpful. When my site had been hacked, they helped me through clearing the problems. When I’ve had small or large issues, they’ve helped me troubleshoot.
Dan Williams
Question asked and answered. Professional service, no complaints.
ryan
super fast support team. always provide solution. so far all my inquiry, support can solve it in a short time. definitely satisfy.
Susan
I’m a happy dreamhost customer of over 13 years and I’ve never had any issues or tech problems until recently, and when the problem occurred it was quickly resolved. I loved being able to chat live with them through the panel. They’re forward thinking folks who are on top of their game and I highly recommend their services to all of my clients and anyone looking for quality customer service and technical competence.
Mike Marineau
I came to Dreamhost perhaps 7 years ago at the suggestion of a friend. We were developing a website for the local boy scout troop and had some specific requirements in mind. The website that we created is ridiculously easy to use and set-up/maintain – especially for a non-tech sort of guy like me. Every time I had any kind of question, no matter how simple or how difficult, Dreamhost was right there with the right answer every time. Billing is low compared to so many other hosting services and its all included. I could not have asked for anything more. THANKS Dreamhost!!!! Keep up the good work.
Rebecca Larson
I recently contacted Dreamhost two different times for help with setting up a blog, and their service was fantastic. I love the chat interface, and both of the support techs were patient, kind, polite, and went above and beyond to help me. They would tell me the solution, and then instead of sending me off into the dark night to try to figure out how to execute it, they would just do it for me, making my life 100x easier. Thank you Dreamhost! I recommend you highly and often.
Faith
I have been a DreamHost customer for about 4 years and have always been pleased with the service.
My blog was hacked a few weeks ago and DreamHost completely rescued me. Their email responses were swift and thorough and when I decided to try to fix the issue myself (even though it was over my head) a representative on the live chat feature walked me through step by step with patience and kindness.
I cannot say enough good things about the ease of service with DreamHost, highly recommended.
Marv Goodman
I was asked to pay a past due amount and Dreamhost would reinstate our website. We did but I soon found out that they had destroyed the contents of our website and we did not have a back up…now we do not have a website
Mark Stuckert
I’ve been using Dreamhost for… probably a decade? I’m not a web designer/developer mind you—just a guy that hosts a couple domains.
But these guys/gals are just so solid. Super fast, super helpful, but most important super “human” if that makes sense. A sense of humour, kind, etc. Just good people!
I don’t know how big they are, but they feel like a neighbourhood shop. Good times.
Garikai
I love DreamHost’s cloud computing offering. A really great service for those who do not need handholding.
Colin Watt
Enough to say Dreamhost’s support structure is brilliant. Accommodating, patient tech support and they go the extra mile to sort out a problem. Thanks to a great team!
Greg
Dreamhost is beyond fantastic. I’ve used their support several times and each time they handled my issue with care and understanding. They always seem to arrive at the perfect solution and always go above and beyond! Their support is cool, friendly, smart, and helpful. Aside from their support, their hosting has proven to be highly reliable and highly configurable. They provide everything that a webhost should provide. It doesn’t get any better!
Lee Down
I’ve come to Dreamhost on many occasions with extra heavy support requests that go above and beyond the call of duty. More often than not I’ve had Dreamhost go there and help solve my dilemma. The rare occasion they did not, they hung in with me long enough to get me on my way. I’ve dealt with other service agencies and not seen this level of commitment to real people. I think that’s what makes Dreamhost different. It’s not just servers and domains. They know that real people are behind these screens. My most recent debacle earns them continued loyalty for the support and resolution I received.
Sato Liu
Absolutely no complaints about Dreamhost website hosting and admin.
Recently, on a couple of occasions, I have had cause to contact the Support team and they have responded promptly. Unfortunately, I have mixed feelings about the support given. Sometimes, its as though the I email sent hasn’t been read and an automatic standard reply is generated based on the nature of the query. That’s frustrating. On the other hand, I’ve also had very detailed helpful advice on how to correct an issue. Which is great and really appreciated.
Overall, though, I’m a Happy Dreamhost customer.
Rob Liano
Everything comes down to customer service, this makes or breaks a company. This is where Dreamhost dramatically FAILED.
I had signed up for their regular hosting, then wanted to switch over to Wordpress hosting (still with Dreamhost). Upon attempting to do so, I received a message similar to “we cannot register this domain but have a subdomain created” What? Really?
So I sent a support ticket, 12 hours goes by, 24, 48 . . . and NEVER heard back!!! I switched over to other hosting (Arvixe) and have had great support throughout (getting email set up, etc) so I’ll never use Dreamiest in the future. Absolutely terrible.
Arwin Abatayo
I signed up for Dreampress 2 hosting plan at first everything is working well but then when I noticed that the Varnish cache is making me a headache of adding contents to my site. When I go to support to report my issue, their Customer Service is really awful. I asked them to turn off Varnish Cache but they didn’t comply and all they do is to transfer mo to Support Ticket. Right now I’m moving to AWS and control my whole VPS. Dreamhost is a nightmare period. I won’t take back my review unless they will fix my hosting.
B Ronstadt
Same here. NO help. Too busy to care. Not their problem. Can’t get my url to a hosting company that can deal with the problem. Dreamiest is a nightmare.
Osman Sağlam
They provide very high quality service. Thanks Dreamhost
Jim Hinze
Been a dreamhost customer for more than 10 years… recent support request left me a bit depressed.
I had some email rejected by the outgoing server. Seemed to be limited to one address and I pointed that out. I also did my research and found the “textbook” answer (I know enough to be dangerous). Ignoring other information in my note (e.g. this was the only address being rejected) They just sent me the same info I had taken time to look up.
In all fairness, support over the last 10+ years has always been awesome, timely, and they know their stuff. This came out of left field.
So in the end, I’ll figure it out on my own.
I’m still a dreamhost customer and have no plans to change.
Jay Smith
Dreamhost is top notch! I have been using Dreamhost for my own hosting and recommending them to others for at least 10 years now. You can’t go wrong with these guys. Their tech support is quick to respond and very helpful.
Paul Oh
Dreamhost is awesome. They host several of our domains. They are also very generous; I asked if they still offer complementary hosting for non-profits. They responded positively and I was able to host the domain within 48-hours. Class act!
John Reagle
A fine and dependable service provided by genuine guys. My old, currently unused account with them was stuck at $4.50, slightly below the minimum payable amount, and they graciously took the initiative to waive it and thus spare me the hassle of receiving the monthly invoice via email. Good practice and good taste. Thank you.
Julie Pfeiffer
Whenever I have a question, I’m always amazed at how quickly Dreamhost responds. Thank you!
Carlos
Dreamhost responded quickly and to the point to my inquires, so I could figure out my doubts for a new hosting service; I appreciate the efficiency of their response.
Abigail
DreamHost has truly dreamy WordPress install. Their 1-click install is clear and their automatic updating is useful and helpful. When I’ve had problems, their tech support has been able to cheerfully resolve them for me. If you’re a true beginner, their web panels might still feel a bit intimidating, although their wiki is pretty clear and as long as you don’t try anything fancy, you should be fine.
When I first started hosting with them 10 years ago, they had some problems with uptime, but those seem to have largely been resolved as well. Their communication is always open and honest (from a company!) with a good dose of humor.
Judith Ellen
I’ve only been using the service for a few days but based on my initial experience I would absolutely recommend Dreamhost, particularly for those who are not specialists. The registration and setup is very simple, 1 click Wordpress install is convenient and support has been excellent so far.
Alex Fradera
Very responsive and helping me sort something out quickly when I asked. Thanks, Dreamhost.
Muhammad Asif
I have been moved to dreamhost recently and I love their services what they promised they mean it. Superb! I am using Dreamhost 2, a fantastic package for high traffic websites.
Alex Smusiak
Dreamhost’s quick and friendly customer service helped me get back up and running in no time…five stars.
Mike Coad
Dreamhost has always come to the rescue when needed and very promptly, too.
Thank you.
Ingrid
Great tech support, no BS like other hosting sites, no waiting on hold, just submit a ticket and receive a fast and thorough response. Love DreamHost!
Heather Stannard
Recently contacted Dreamhost re a non profit site that has changed hands so many times it was a little tough getting follow up. Dreamhost offered the support they could within privacy parameters. While their efforts were not the final straw, they were certainly one of several approaches that has finally brought a resolution to this issue within grasp. As new webmaster for this site, I am looking forward to seeing the support Dreamhost offers first hand.
Tyler Pierce
Even when I’m in a shitty mood from solving tech issues of my own making anyone from dreamhost tech support has cheerfully (and effectively) helped. I’m very grateful to be hosted by a company with a bit of soul.
Bob
Our not-for-profit organization has been the beneficiary of DreamHost’s free hosting for many years. In the course of that time I’ve had several interactions with the DreamHost support staff. Their responses have always been quick and helpful. We benefit greatly by being a DreamHost “customer.”
Al Sulzer
They were very responsive and helpful. I am not sure what went wrong but I was getting an incorrect error message, they fixed the issue and completed the one-click process for me.
Jason Priebe
I have had very positive experiences with Dreamhost tech support. A few key examples:
– we deleted a user account for an employee who left the company, not knowing that would delete the sites associated with that user. A Dreamhost support tech had the problem resolved within about 30 minutes (sites restored from backup)
– We moved from a VPS to a dedicated server. A few things didn’t move over cleanly, and I got help within minutes from Dreamhost.
– A month or two after the move to dedicated server, I noticed that we were still being billed for the VPS. I had forgotten to turn that VPS off. I reached out to Dreamhost to get help shutting it down, and without me even asking, they credited my account for two months of VPS service, since we really hadn’t been using the VPS.
Jordan
Our non-profit has been taking advantage of their free non-profit hosting, and it’s been wonderful. We recently interacted with their support team, and they were quick and professional.
Rob Liano
I set up a hosting account for my emails and all went well until I tried to switch to dream hosting so that I could set up a Wordpress site.
When I tried to register the domain, I received a message saying it can’t be done because a sub domain was created. When I reached out to customer service I got zero response. It’s 3 days later and need the site up and designed by September 1st, therefore If I don’t here back by tomorrow with a solution, I’m dropping Dreamiest but only after switching to another host.
Gina Hardy
I am glad I am hosting my web site with you! I don’t often seek help but you always come up trumps with advice, so thank for that!
I would say however that I am not a techy savvy person (being a Yoga teacher
) and so sometimes I find your answers to my questions a little over whelming with ‘techy speak’ and am left feeling I still don’t know how to resolve my problem on my own.
Just this week I thought my web site had been hacked and you came to the rescue very quickly and sorted as much as you could your side and then gave me advice as to how to protect and update my site going forward but some of the items I just couldn’t understand so I went on your very quick instant online chat and for security reasons the lady there could not take me through things incase there was a breach or something…so I haven’t done what you emailed me to do coz I still don’t understand how. I need hand holding….so what then?
Anyway….I am still happy to be with you guys!
Blessings

I’ve used Dreamhost for several years now and have had nothing but GREAT experiences! First of all, the dashboard is pretty self-explanatory and most things are very easy to figure out as is. Secondly, their wiki articles for help are often all I need to clear up a question or figure out something I may not be certain how to do (I am not the most advanced web designer on earth). Lastly but not least, on the few occasions I’ve needed to contact customer support, they have been absolutely fantastic, helping me work through what I’m trying to do with patience, and extensive knowledge that is actually kind of mind-blowing. I’ve never worked with any company for any reason that has better support than Dreamhost! Highly recommended!

Someone (or something?) hacked my web site, and I do not have much experience with managing web matters myself. However, dreamhost customer support responded to my request for help immediately, and offered suggestions for fixing the problem myself (which worked) and how to prevent it from occurring again. I am very happy with dreamiest.

I had a problem getting data from a Ninja form. Email addresses with common domains were getting blocked. My initial response from DreamHost support didn’t address the issue, but that was due to my confusing tests. Once I clarified the issue I got a quick and useful response. The problem was in my Ninja forms options. They explained their blocking process and I was able to easily fix it in my forms options. I’m very happy with the prompt support I received and their willingness to go the extra mile.
This is my first experience using WordPress for web design and I really appreciate the tight integration they offer with the application. Five Stars!

New to hosting with Dreamhost, our first ‘oops’ on our page, our fault. The support team was able to fix quickly and we are back online with full access. Thank you!

I’ve been a Dreamhost customer since about 2002. I love their control panel and ease of use. Their prices for their quality of service are great, and you feel like you’re doing business with good guys.
Dreamhost’s shared hosting is a good place to host a low traffic blog.
Caveats:
For higher-traffic sites, you’ll probably want a VPS, and Dreamhost’s prices for VPS are on the high end.
If you want to forward email from your custom domain to Gmail, you’ll find that Gmail penalizes mail from Dreamhost significantly, slowing delivery down. I had to move my primary domain from Dreamhost to Hover to avoid this penalty.
