How to Display Google+ Profile Widget in WordPress

Google+ has been a popular subject for the past few weeks. This new social network is growing very fast. Popular tech celebrities already boasts thousands of followers (in circles). If you are one of the avid fans of Google+ and want to get your profile more exposure by adding a profile widget to your WordPress blog, then you have come to the right place. GoogleCards plugin adds a widget to your blog that will display a link to your google+ profile so people can add you to a circle (follow you). It also displays your name, profile picture and the number of people who have you in circles.

First thing you need to do is install and activate the plugin, GoogleCards. Once you have done that, then visit Appearence » Widgets tab. There you will see a widget that you can drag to your sidebar called GoogleCards.

GoogleCard Widget Setting

If you notice there is a field that asks you to enter your Google+ ID. Go to your Google Plus Profile and click on the icon that is shown in the image above. Then copy the ID from the url :)

Once you click save, then it will show up on your sidebar like this:

GoogleCard Preview

If you want, you can follow Syed Balkhi on Google+.

Download GoogleCards now and have a cool widget in your sidebar.

I wouldn’t recommend using until you have a lot of people for social proof though

This is a nice plugin, but I’d love to see support for author pages on blogs with multiple authors.

Good to try maybe but where the “add to circle” link will bring us, just the page? If so, I dont’ want to make more files that eat my limited hosting space, better just what presented on my page :)
