WordCamp Miami 2012 – How to do Lead Generation in WordPress Edition

OMG, what an amazing weekend we had. It was the third time in the past 3 years that I headed down to Miami for WordCamp Miami 2012. Somewhat local to the area, its always a pleasure to see a growing WordPress community. This was also the third year that I spoke at WordCamp Miami, and it was an honor to see so many familiar faces attending my session. I want to thank David Bisset (@dimensionmedia), Ptah Dunbar (@ptahdunbar), Rick Tuttle (@ricktuttle), and the whole volunteer team for working so hard to bring us an amazing event. David Pegg (@iamdpegg) and I attended WordCamp Miami representing WPBeginner and List25 (@list25).

I was asked to lead the Beginner Workshop alongside with Ptah Dunbar. It was an honor to present the basics. I had a blast working hands on with WordPress and helping people out. The second day, I spoke on How to do Lead Generation in WordPress. I have never presented on this topic before, so it was a first time. I shared my results of how I got over 30,000 likes using a simple lead generation technique. Took my website to 5 Million pageviews, and more. Below are my slides:

How to do Lead Generation in WordPress from Syed Balkhi

Now I know its hard to follow the slides because there is so little information there. I am attaching a list of resources that you will find helpful.

I know everyone wanted to know how I did that Facebook Likes Campaign to get over 30,000 likes. Check out my article on Boost your Facebook Likes by Creating a Facebook Giveaway using WordPress.

The lightbox plugin I mentioned is called Pippity. Here is a coupon for 25% on Pippity. Here is a full Pippity Tutorial.

The powerhouse forms plugin I mentioned is called Gravity Forms. You can get a 25% off coupon for Gravity Forms. To get the add-ons for lead generation, you will need a Business License or above.

For quick landing pages, you should just use the drag-drop framework Headway Themes. Here is a link for Headway Coupon. It makes it super easy to create landing pages SUPER FAST.

I talked a lot about List25. It always help users to see a full list of plugins that we are using for the site. Check out Behind the Scenes at List25.

It will always help if you reference back to my post series about How to Lead Generation in WordPress – Part 1, Part 2, Part 3.

Last but definitely the MOST IMPORTANT, you should check out my newsletter archive where I talked about How I got over 4 Million Pageviews in under 3 months. Yes, it is freaking long, but it shows you the whole story of List25, my struggles and how I overcame it. P.S. after the end of that month, I had over 5 million pageviews on the site, over 1 Million Youtube Video Views, and much more. If you like the email, then don’t forget to subscribe to the list. This would keep you in the loop of the techniques that I try on a regular basis.

Don’t forget to check out some of the pictures that we took and stole from others:
